I must say it fucks me off a bit at times when I see some Irish academic programmes bringing in people from US and UK to talk about things I’ve been working on for over 25 years. Even when the experts in question are really old friends of mine who I love talking with.
So I’m really happy that @maynoothuni has me in on Thursday to talk about some data stuff with the #IVI. (It’s the least I can do after they gave me a Lifetime Achievement award last year)
@maynoothuni Perhaps we need to break out of the mindset that only people out “forrin” can have insights on the practicalities of doing data stuff.
After all, #DataWarehousing was invented in Ireland in the 1980s, and some of the most innovative #DataQuality and data integration companies that emerged in the early 2000s had Irish roots.
@maynoothuni Annnyhooo… now @okeefekat and I have the 2nd edition of our #DataEthics book almost done I might revisit one of my older books on #DataQuality that I wrote for Ark Group back in 2008. It’s out of print now but I think a refresh might be worth a bash.
@maynoothuni @okeefekat But, proofreading to do now on this beast that is due out on 3rd May (30th May in US) https://www.koganpage.com/product/data-ethics-9781398610279
