Stupid question that I presume everyone else here knows the answer to, but: is there a good/easy way to cross-post to Mastodon and Bluesky? As in, doesn't require a degree in computer science or more than 3 brain cells
Feel like Mastodon is the salad that you know is better for you, while Bluesky is the triple-decker double bacon cheeseburger that's enjoyable in the moment but that you'll 100% regret later
@Ciaraioch Haven't tried it yet, but I seen someone else mention they were using openvibe.social to see everything in the one place, seems to do crossposts too.
@Ciaraioch there are dedicated cross-posting apps. I've seen SkyMoth, Croissant, and Buffer mentioned in my feed but have no experience with any of them.
@Ciaraioch There's apps for that, and I suspect services like Buffer can also do Bluesky at this point, along with Mastodon.

P.S. Not a stupid question. It's confusing, this new multi-network social media reality, especially for artists and creators!
@sindarina Thanks so much - and hugely, it's becoming a bit of a headwreck trying to keep all the plates spinning when it's not something I've any expertise in, thanks for understanding!
@Ciaraioch The only stupid question is the one that is not asked, etc.
Sort of: https://fed.brid.gy/
If you follow @bsky.brid.gy then your toots will also appear on BlueSky, but truncated if they're longer than 300 characters (I do this). BlueSky users will then be able to follow your Mastodon account, but you won't be able to see interactions from BlueSky users unless they also bridge their accounts.
From the other direction, if your BlueSky account follows https://bsky.app/profile/ap.brid.gy your BlueSky posts will appear in the Fediverse
@Infrapink Thank you!
@Ciaraioch seconding bridgy fed super easy, will automatically mirror your posts from one site to the other
@Ciaraioch Yeah, OpenVibe is okay. Some times hashtags don't crosspost properly but that's about it. I still find it easier to read on separate apps and only use that for posting.
https://bsky.statuzer.com/ works on desktop.
@abominabledrh That's very helpful, thank you!

@Ciaraioch sure look, the practically antiviral design of Mastodon is fuckin hard to do professional stuff on - apart from professional Linux stuff probably, but otherwise
Even as someone expecting go full James Connolly meme over it some day, anyone who thinks they can knock a few years trade out of it in the meantime should fill their boots.
@davey_cakes I think that's what it basically boils down to with most social media now when you use them for creative work etc, very aware they've a lifespan and likely to get Bad sooner or later, but you just have to make do with what you're given. Exhausting, though. It is nice to have this one, regardless.
@Ciaraioch I think of it more as Bluesky being like Mickey Mouse - lots of money, the people behind it are *really* not the kind of people you'd want to be alone in a room with, and the whole package is very bland and corporate.
And Mastodon is more like Zooble.
@Ciaraioch Openvibe works with Android too and I'm using it right now.
@Ciaraioch why does it give me vibes of that Simpson's episode where Mr Burns decided to setup a 100% sustainable recycling business? I hope I'm wrong, but… tech bros…
Thanks for asking this dumb question. I'm a techie with 4 (four!) neurons to rub together and I needed the answers you got.
@tarheel I feel less bad about it now!
@Ciaraioch Thanks for asking this so I can read all the replies and try it out for myself! Was manually crossposting for a while there last year before settling on Bluesky as the platform I was actually using, but it's kind of loud over there, so I might want to hide over here sometimes too...
