Everytime I see an ad for I think of this.

A full page advertisement from a comic book or magazine. A man at the top holds his glasses, with the caption "Shamed by You English?". The text of the ad reveals that it is an advertisement for some kind of product that purports to improve readers' ability to communicate in English. Much of the ad takes the form of responses to questions about the product. It is noticeable that the questions are in perfect English while the grammar and phrasing in the responses and the rest of the advertisement is questionable.

The ad appeared in Alan Moore's 1963 and is a parody of an ad that used to appear in comic books of yore. 1963 featured parodies of other ads that used to appear in comics (those ones for sea monkeys, the ones promising an enormous number of toy soldiers and military equipment for minimal outlay, etc.) but Shamed By You English is the funniest.
