Earlier today I caught a rare cinema screening of Enda Hughes' classic 1997 short Flying Saucer Rock n Roll (in which aliens invade a rock n roll obsessed Northern Ireland village in 1958). Since then I have discovered that it can also be viewed online. Give it a go, it stars Ardal O'Hanlon.

The same site also has Hughes' 1999 short Comm-Raid on the Potemkin (Eisenstein's Battleship Potemkin re-made as a first person shooter video game). I have wanted to see this for years so it was great to finally catch it.

Sadly Enda Hughes' 1997 feature The Eliminator (set in Northern Ireland, featuring paramilitaries and zombies) continues to be unavailable anywhere online or otherwise. It's nice to know I am not the only person who remembers it fondly.

He made a well-regarded documentary called Men of Arlington for television, but I've not seen that.
The sign for "Arlington Road" at the start of that film reminds me of the brilliant track from the second album by Gallon Drunk.
