seems like a good time to make a list of characters in games.

A thread.

First of all, there's , who first appeared in (AKA Super Mario Bros USA), the same game which introduced Bob-Ombs and Shy Guys, and the first where Peach was playable.

The Japanese manual states that Brido "mistakenly believes themself to be a girl", which is really bad phrasing. Still, in all subsequent appearances, Birdo has been referred to as female, and there's even a mission in Captain Rainbow where you prove she is indeed a girl. She is trans.

, who first appeared in , and tends to be partnered with Birdo in spinoff games. Yoshi identifies as male and is consistently referred to with male pronouns, but he lays eggs, so he is also trans.

3/?

does not, to my knowledge, have any trans characters (I haven't played Engage yet), but does have a few LGB characters.
* Leon (Gaiden, Echoes) is a gay man, or at least Valbarsexual.
* Heather (Radiant Dawn) is a lesbian.
* Corrin, Niles, Rhajat, and Soleil in Fates are all bi, and Soleil furthermore prefers women.
* Byleth, Rhea, Edelgard, Linhardt, Dorothea, and Mercedes in Three Houses are all bi, and Three Hopes establishes that Monica is either a lesbian or Edelgardsexual.

@Infrapink
They are not exactly the most memorable or central character, but Kyza from Radiant Dawn is non-binary. Recent translations have referred to Kyza with they/them pronouns.

Infrapink (he/his/him)

@Toge Oh, wow!

It does look like Kyza is actually a transwoman and Heroes is, as usual, being inconsistent. But hey, I'm not going to complain if the Heroes version of Kyza is nonbinary.

@Infrapink
Might also be that the translators weren't quite sure what to go with, and thought they/them was playing it safe. RD, and I assume the Japanese source text, leave it a bit vague.
