#GeorgeBoole, one of the founders of the computer age and the first Professor of Mathematics at
@UCC, died in Cork #OTD in 1864.
#BertrandRussell, who made efforts to have Boole’s papers printed, said that "An Investigation of the Laws of Thought" as “the work in which pure mathematics was discovered”. In it Boole applied his #boolean mathematics to the philosophy of #Spinoza and others as a practical demonstration.

and I dare say, it's a loss, that #Boole's #LoT exercise on #ethics part I #DeDeo is not really present in contemporary #Spinoza discussion.
Though #Boole's analysis ends up with some critical comment, it's one of the very few #logical studies of #Spinoza's way of argument, and for sure the most faithful one, I ever found. While in some points I don't agree with the analysis, I wish had known these paragraphs (#LoT chapt. XIII, §§16-18) when I wrote down my respective paper, to include it in my discussion.
