Does anyone have any experience with or bulbs?

I'm looking for a bulb that can do one simple job: Gradually increase in brightness over a set period of time, starting from a specified time.

The Wiz option is cheap enough that future integration and additional features don't really matter, but I don't want to waste money if it can't do what I want.

If it can do that one simple job - reliably act like a sunrise alarm by increasing in brightness over at least 15 minutes (though 30mins would be really nifty) - I'd be perfectly happy.

That said, there are features I like the sound of:

Remote control? Very cool!
Smart plug for non-smart devices? Ditto!

Motion detector? Very neat, but...

...what happens if the light is already on and then it senses motion? Would it turn the light off after the given period has elapsed or would it return the light to its previous state? 🤔
Could you have the motion detector be inactive during certain hours so that it doesn't turn the light on when it senses motion during the daytime? 🤔

Not important features when I really just want a light-alarm, but I could see myself adding things like that over time, so I am a little bit curious.

Maybe could handle a lot of those problems.

The Wiz doesn't require a hub or bridge which is a big saving, but I expect IFTTT or a like or picks up the slack by helping you bundle tasks together.

@O_DarcyW Hue bulbs can do this but you'll need a hub or zigbee Gateway.

@whatatoots @O_DarcyW I managed this with Ikea bulbs and a script using libcoap that talks to the gateway, but might not be the way you want to go

@chebe @whatatoots Ooh, that sounds interesting. In a similar vein, I don't have any experience, but Raspberry Pi is on my to-play-around with list, so I was half-considering that as a factor; I definitely want something that works out of the box in the immediate, but it would be nice if it wasn't tremendously difficult to tinker with as a learning project down the line if I wanted to experiment with connecting it to other things. I imagined the proprietary Hue Bridge might

1/2

@chebe @whatatoots make that difficult, but again, I really don't know anything about it; I'm just basing that on big brand devices in general.
