The Deadly Years, written by #DavidPHarmon.
The pace slows too much in the middle, and it feels like the episode has lost direction, but it comes back strong before the end.
The performances shine. Shatner's in particular.
The Janet Wallace subplot is pointless. It goes nowhere and the character adds nothing of note to the episode.
Commodore Stocker, however, is a strong character, clearly conflicted about what he feels he needs to do. He's an antagonist who genuinely means well, and that's rare in the series.
According to #IMDb users, this is the 40th best episode.
