I had very little time on my only visit so far to beautiful Lisbon back in 2016 but just loved walking around more or less randomly and spotting architectural details such as this tiled facade of a kindergarten in Rua da Palmeira in Bairro Alto. Do the red stars signify what I think they do?

A photo showing the first one and a half stories of the stone and tile facade of a kindergarten in an older quarter of Lisbon, Portugal. The multipaned windows have white and dark green wooden frames and ornamental low barriers on the first floor. The jambs are made from a light-colored natural stone. The facade is tiled with ornamental tiles featuring a yellow, green and white geometric pattern. A large sign above the dark green door states the building's purpose as "jardim de infância das mercês", kindergarten of Mercês and Adeco, which stands for Associação de Desenvolvimento Comunitário (Community Development Association). The sign is similarly dark green with white writing and is adorned by two five-pointed red stars.
