@anneeroper great landscape. In the foreground right. Is that a tunnel into the building?
@waterwatchman I'm no expert but it seems there is still much much to discover about #MonteAlban #Oaxaca including what the tunnels were for. The tour guide I went with at #Teotihuacan outside #MexicoCity said that site revealed (as well as one of earliest plumbing systems) tunnels that are still being excavated full of burial and other ceremonial chambers as well as water honouring practices. This would have been important also for #Maize crop production #Tunnels #Archaeology #Anthropology
@anneeroper I will be visiting #Oaxaca over New Year. Could you recommend some restaurants in #OaxacaDeJuarez?
@tate HELLO! It's a wonderful town and north of the Zocalo (town centro) up Calle Vigil, Alcala and 5 May which run north parallel to each other have wonderful small cafes, restaurants with indoor courtyards. Cheap and cheerful is on corner of Vigil and Jeisus Carrera walking north (blue building with open sides) think its called Republica. But you will find a wealth of lovely places hidden behind what look like shop fronts, so explore and enjoy!
@anneeroper Thanks so much! The area you describe is a short walk from where I'll be staying. Can't wait!
@tate #Hola! #Oaxaca is a beautiful time of the year, hasn't gone over 76F/23C during day and evenings have not needed a sweater but then I do come from #Ireland! Plus people are putting up their unique brand of #Christmas decorations, many made from corn husks--quite a sculptural treat! Enjoy #Mexico!
