Taoiseach, Leo #Varadkar, announced an investigation into reports of components made in #Ireland found in Iranian-made drone used to attack a location in Mykolaiv, #Ukraine
The reports suggest that the component is made my #Taoglas, which makes attennae
Taoglas is a tenant in #DCU Alpha, Glasnevin
Taoglas may never, ever intend for their components be used to kill (if reports are true), but this is why #ArmsControl activists have for decades campaigned for controls on "dual use" components
Link to a piece about this in the Indo, if you can stomach giving them a click:
@clickhere it seems that there is more than one component made in Ireland? Engine part stamped made in Ireland as well. Though bizarrely a claim that it may not have been produced in Ireland.
@briand Yeah, I saw that a short while ago, about the component from Tillotson? (I didn't hear about it not being produced in Ireland, that *is* bizarre.) Strange - and awful - if there are multiple parts from here being used to kill people.
@clickhere yeah that’s them based in Kerry. Oddly RTÉ News says “Despite the "Made in Ireland" stamp, it has also not been determined whether the component was actually produced in Ireland.”
@briand Oh, I hadn't seen that at all. What a completely bananas thing to say.
