No 60s British TV series is more highly regarded than The Prisoner, at least among fans of action/adventure/spy/science fiction series. And no series has ever engendered such fierce debates about its meaning.
A spy resigns, for reasons that he refuses to reveal. He arrives home, is drugged and wakes up in The Village. A perfectly charming place to live, apart from one thing - it is a prison.

@d4doome I want that jacket he wears...
@swcollings It's one of the great jackets, and he wears it well.
It's a fabulous jacket. So good, in fact, I had to buy one. Went to Portmeirion where the programme was filmed as a birthday treat many years ago. Couldn't help myself.
@d4doome one of the best shows EVER made!
@d4doome One of my favs growing up. Those floating balloon-guards really freaked me out. Brilliant show.
@frodo32d @d4doome
And to think that, if I'm not mistaken, the balloons were used to save money as they were a very inexpensive solution to represent the security guards. In the same way, the teleportation of Star Trek would born from the lack of funds and therefore from the impossibility of shooting scenes with the landing of spaceships.
