Walter Hill’s The Driver (1978), a tough edgy thriller with its own distinctive flavour. Ryan O’Neal is amazingly cool. Bruce Dern in psycho mode. Superb action set-pieces. A nicely devious plot. A great neo-noir and a great action thriller.

Thanks for the recommendation. Great review. Watched it tonight & loved it. Thought you might enjoy Halliwell's lol review: "Noisy melodrama, very proficient in the screeching tyre department but extremely empty as a character." Time Out was kinder & more on the mark: "recalls the sombreness of Melville & the sparseness of Leone...A brilliant plot of cross and double-cross." Look forward to more of your recs :)
