Measles on a train - with a 2 hour potential airborne period after the infected person has left - is already nightmare fuel, but the most shocking thing about this is the HSE advice to avoid spreading measles does not include wearing a fucking mask https://www.thejournal.ie/hse-warns-people-travelling-on-dublin-to-sligo-train-last-friday-may-have-been-exposed-to-measles-6666105-Apr2025/
that service in particular is fucking mental - probably one of the busiest services in our rail network. No way the vast majority of people know if they were on carriage D or not. Happily it's a service highly unlikely to be carrying many children too young to be vaccinated.
@detachedspork I miss masks :(
@detachedspork Our collective attitude towards masking is one of the most depressing things to come out of the last 5 years for me.
And it obviously has a LOT of competition.
Such a simple act that's barely inconvenient - let alone troublesome - which can have such a major positive impact (if we all do it).
And yet, not only does nobody do it (it's months since I've seen anyone but me in a mask) but even discussing it has become almost taboo.
A sign, if ever there was one, that we are lost.
@detachedspork
I never stopped masking on public transport and in busy shops etc.
Even if I'm the only one on the bus.
Even if I'm the only one on the plane.
Even if I'm the only one in the FUCKING HOSPITAL.
