@HarriettMB I think it is more they failed to act on the 20 recommendations made when May was Home Secretary xx

@Geri @HarriettMB

I found this from a newsreport the Jay report was published in 2022 after the national inquiry was set up in 2015 and carried out 15 investigations, including into grooming gangs and abuse in schools and church settings.

Don't hear much noise from the Tories about another investigation into schools and the Church! I wonder why that is??

Plus who was in power in 2015 & 2022 - it wasn't the Labour Party!

SO EXACTLY WHO HAS FAILED TO ACT ON THIS??

@Geri @HarriettMB

I think the believe that this nonsense that Mu*k is pushing will hurt the Labour Party but I wonder how they think it will work?

They were in power when this was uncovered back in 2010's they were the government in 2022 when the Jay report was published. They were the government that refused to implement the findings of that report.

They are the SAME people who are now attacking the Labour Party for not implementing the findings of a report that was published

@Geri @HarriettMB

when the held power in 2022 and could have acted to take steps to protect the victims of these gangs, which they are using as pawns to attack the Labour Party now because Badenoch is taking her orders from Musk & Little Tommy Ten Names.

I would call them hypocrites but that doesn't seem to be strong enough to describe how vile Badenoch, Jenrick and the rest of the Tories who are ignoring their failures while promoting a right wing conspiracy nut!

@jacqui76 @HarriettMB

Starmer said "a line had been crossed" but what will he do? (rhet)

@jacqui76 @Geri @HarriettMB right, but exploiting that fact would take a labour administration actually making that case, and not just capitulating to the tory narrative immediately. Or in advance. Which, with their past behaviour....

@jacqui76 @Geri @HarriettMB I have heard it said that for the far right, it's not a problem to be totally contradictory, and in fact may even be desirable. Something to do with reinforcing the narrative that there is no such thing as objective truth so you should just go with your prejudices.

Not entirely sure if I believe that, but you have to admit it certainly fits the facts here.
