Well, there goes Royal Mail, delivering €150 worth of pen kits that I ordered from the UK in just over two months. I mean, we did have christmas and a large storm that wiped out our freight routes, so I guess that's not a terrible timeframe.
Shame they delivered it to the frozen arse end of Canada instead of my address in Ireland really.
Just got an email from the pen kit company (Taylors Mirfield) saying they were wondering why my pen kits had arrived back to them marked "could not deliver" and they have no idea why they got sent to Canada because the address was very clearly Ireland. They've posted them on to me again.
So either I'll get the kits for my most well-travelled pens ever sometime next week, or they'll land in China in a month and be back in the UK midlands sometime around Easter...
@LiamGilmartin They make pens rather than selling pen kits though (the plan was to make pens as xmas gifts, hence ordering two months ago).
@markdennehy Ah I see what you mean, I'm sorry, I misunderstood.
@LiamGilmartin No worries, thanks for trying to help.
and there's this family business in Donegal who hand turn themselves and sell direct. Many types of wood including bog oak
@LiamGilmartin Yup, but again, *I* want to make the pen, rather than buying one.
@markdennehy I had fabric sent to me via Israel once, because you know, how many countries starting with an I is there.
@jjcelery Which becomes a problem if they daisy-chain because there's only so far a package can go in that part of the alphabet before someone performs a controlled explosion :D
@markdennehy well it did make it over here eventually, covered in all sorts of exotic post marks, so I must have gotten lucky on the controlled detonation part
@markdennehy doesn’t help this time, but maybe for a future parcel… just used the oohpod location just over the border for something that wouldn’t ship here. Worked well, allowing for the spin to collect it.
@PaddyTech No, they've shipped to me before, I'm a repeat customer. That photo is one of their kits in one of my pens. They had the address right down to the eircode. I have no idea what's happened.
@markdennehy that’s bonkers
