Should I go to:
small protest march in nearby town?
medium-sized protest march in ?
or
BIG march in Richmond (state capital)? 🤔

@mtechman I suggest the one closest to you because it might be easier to park, and it might be nice to see as many protests as possible everywhere so everyone sees them. However, there is some safety in numbers, too. Tough call.

@kimlockhartga you are my sibling in dithering...
I'm leaning toward the small town, because it's an easy drive, and I'm still recovering from big city driving.

@mtechman that's my strategy. There is a lot of free parking right there at the one I want to go to. Also very good taco place nearby as a bonus.

Still working on a good sign right now.

@mtechman Small one. You can have lots of chats.

@psneeze I am resting today after so many chats in Houston, but it is a very good point.

@mtechman bigger is better for me. state protests are more important to succeed than small local ones. my 2c

@zxm that's exactly why I'm torn....thanks!

@zxm I think you are right in many ways, but now I'm probably going to choose the small and local....partly because yesterday was grueling travel.

@mtechman Small nearby = meet local like minded people in your community; medium or large = learn and connect with more different groups and catch more enthusiasm?

Practicalities of transport and if friends are going to one or another may figure in.

@jmeowmeow

Thanks, Jeff. Now that I'm a bit rested from 14 hours of airports yesterday, ugh, I'm still not up for a long drive and possibly no bus to the site in Richmond.
Small and local makes more sense now.

@mtechman you've already won by deciding to go, and you can't go wrong going to the capitol. But may I suggest #Charlottesville punches above it's weight given what happened there before?

@Tjohnmax I used to live there, and you are right! So now I'm leaning toward going small, knowing that Cville crowd should be really big.

@mtechman I could be wrong, but my hot take is: Go to the protest closest to you.

The old axiom “All politics are local” suggests that you should make your voice heard as close to home as possible. Also, the CVille and RVA protests are likely to be pretty large so you may not make much of an incremental difference there.

@rvajay That's what I think now too. But I'm so glad the Cville and RVA ones will be big!
