It's time for #TipsTueday! We thought we'd look at using Google Maps this week!
Google Maps allows us to look at satellite images, get a sense of a place and "walk" around it using Street View.
Here's an ex. of a project we want to investigate: https://t.co/bgN0RjSc0Y
Using Google Maps we can:
1. Switch to "Terrain" view and literally see the cranes
2. Walk around the shopping centre and see HISTORICAL images from 2009
We can see what it looked like in 2009, 2019 and 2021. Interestingly, some work seems to have been done between '19 and '21 (see the new windows).
Here are some investigations where Street View really helped us:
The image shows Before and after views of the Abbey River from O'Dwyer Bridge in Limerick for an investigation into the degredation of Ireland's rivers:

For this investigation we used Street View to show the extent of urban tree felling by local authorities: https://noteworthy.ie/tree-cutting-local-authorities-noteworthy-investigation-4963740-Jan2020/
