Shock report on the reality of car pollution in Europe https://climate.ec.europa.eu/news-your-voice/news/first-commission-report-real-world-co2-emissions-cars-and-vans-using-data-board-fuel-consumption-2024-03-18_en
When, when, are we going to realize that plutonium powered cars are the way to go?
@Phosphenes @sinabhfuil right? No carbon emissions at all from plutonium!
@sinabhfuil now I want an on-board fuel consumption monitoring (OBFCM) device for my car. Can we derive this data using existing tools?
@nuthatch @sinabhfuil The answer is probably "that depends": everyone with a petrol or diesel vehicle can use published figures for CO2/litre for their fuel type which, ignoring seasonal variations, will give a fairly close approximation.
If you have a BEV or PHEV then not only the amount of electricity consumed but also the quantity of carbon in the generation mix have to be accounted for. This last variable changes constantly.
