So, what does one say in English (or Irish) to invite someone to have a good meal? Like bon appetit or guten Appetit, but English (or Irish)?

It's for some napkins.

Edit: Thanks for the boosts and replies folks. Napkins in the reply.

Thanks all for comments. The napkins were made last Thursday and posted on Friday.

I went with the very unoriginal "Enjoy!", and with "Bain Sásta As" which I would hope the recipient gains some satisfaction from...

The new lettering in is magic.

@triploidtree this has been discussed a few times, there doesn't seem to be an equivalence. Closest would be 'Enjoy' or 'taitneamh as' (or something sasta related)?

@chebe I could go "subh milis" or "an leithreas" for the Irish, only one person in the receiving household knows any Irish (and hated it all the way through school). "Bain sásta as" could work either

@triploidtree "bain súp as" is one I might use.

From a story I heard about him giving his name in response to Bon Appetit, thinking it was the speaker's name

@triploidtree Is dócha gorb é "bon appetit" a deirtear i Shasana agus "enjoy your meal" sna S.A. Dár le boards.ie/discussion/205684818 deirtear 'go raibh an bia blasta' i gConamara agus 'go raibh do ghreim blasta' i dTír Chonnail.

boards.ie - Now Ye're Talkin'Bon appetit in IrishHi, Conas a dearfá "Bon appetit" as Gaeilge? How do I say "Bon appetit" in Irish? Go raibh maith agat! Thank you!
