Q for users: if you see your imessages to your phone on your Mac do you also see text messages from Androids there?

@EllenInEdmonton hmm someone else said yes. I wonder is it an OS thing then - which doesn't help me because I don't know what OS the intended recipient is using.

Thanks for answering!

@urbanfoxe It depends.

Some group chats would come through on my computer if the last person to send a message was on an iPhone.

Messages with just an Android user never showed on my computer.

Now it's weirder because it depends on the whether the Android and iPhone carrier both support full RCS, which was new in September.

I use AT&T, which has activated RCS. When an AT&T Android user messages me, I get them on my computer.

Basically, now I see messages from all users on my computer if the users are on a phone network with activated RCS.

@digitalrob hmm - my messages to this recipient all say sms. I have other iPhone user conversations where they are rcs.

@digitalrob and they're on the same family plan and general location.

@urbanfoxe RCS implementation from the service providers is a mess. Having it successfully work seems pretty random.

@digitalrob yeah I noticed even with conversations with my family between two androids, it seems to randomly switch between them but when it's sms it usually means one of us is on the subway.

@urbanfoxe The subway probably has unique cell towers.
