My old person trait is that I think companies should finish software before they ship it.
My old person train is that I think software should come with manuals.
@Nick_Stevens_graphics ... that are complete and correct.
@wonka @Nick_Stevens_graphics @zxm
...and printed and bound
@SmartmanApps Can't hurt, but I like 'em grepable.
We don't even get PDF versions these days...
@Nick_Stevens_graphics @zxm @zxm And in particular, should have OFFLINE versions, not just "online" manuals. I'm looking at you, @Blender during the November DDOS attack. (But not only at you.)
I don't consider that old person thinking, just thoughtfulness. DDOS attacks aside, ISP outages and even people lacking convenient 24/7 access aren't exactly unheard of, even today.
@zxm All of the above.
@zxm Oh holy fuckenstein I'm old too.
@zxm
I’m in this picture, & don’t deny it. I want everyone to know I’m in this picture.
But do I LIKE it? Hell, no, I do not.
@zxm What I don't like is that it's apparently an "old person trait" to dislike late capitalist bullshit like this >.>
@zxm tbh none of these are old person traits, we're not growing old, we just remember a time when dark patterns did not completely rule our interactions and general enshittification was at a less advanced stage
@zxm I'm all over this image and it's sad how much #Enshittification we have these days...
@zxm my old person trait is that I think people should know how to not kill each other on roads
@zxm good stuff
@zxm
My old person trait is that I think that any job should pay you enough to live and save up and buy a house.
Doesn't matter if it's 'unskilled labor', pumping gas, working a cash register, flipping burgers. You should be able to live off of it.
(OTOH, my socalist trait would be that I don't think you should *have* to live off it... )
@zxm I’m 24 and I feel old
I recall all of these
@zxm My old person trait is that emoticons are good enough :-)
@zxm Some of mine as well.
Yep yep and yep, etc.
My old person trait is that I don’t think phones should be for anything other than calls and texts.
Damn I’m ancient.
@zxm
My old person trait is that I think gui 'improvements' should be optional and not imposed.
@zxm 3 of the above 4 - I don't use phones to talk.
I also believe that if you've bought & own a product, you should be fully allowed to repair said product.
On phones calls & emails or text messaging I also believe that any & all privacy rights that exist on landline phone calls & regular mail, should exist for those forms of communication which have largely replaced the older one's. Cellphone line vs landline shouldn't in any way be considered different from each other.
Chronologically I don't think most would consider me old, as I'm an older millennial....
@zxm @OchmennoPodcast you just said I am OLD!!!!
@zxm I’ve just ordered a new printer rather then go through this:
“Alright Anna, a problem like yours is a bit complex and requires some cooperation and patience from your end too. I need your cooperation and interaction to solve the issue. Hope you are available now.”
I’ve had this one for less than 2 years.
@zxm my old person trait is that if something I own breaks I want to be able to open up the manual and fix it myself
Also, if I could afford a lawn, I'd want you kids to get off it. Harrumph.
@zxm @DamienWise My old person trait is that I still sometimes think that images or videos convey information
@zxm @Nihtgenga
My old person trait is that I think DRM is a solvable problem!
