#2024GE

Latest #poll in #scotland for #2024GE has #labour lead over #snp at 6% - 2% higher than a poll by the same pollsters a month ago

Since #sunak called the election the average Labour lead is 4% - there is no convincing evidence that the SNP will recover by polling day

On the bright side for the latter, #reformUK are eating the Tory lunch - thay have dropped 3 points to just 14% of scottish voters

The Met denies being the source of leaks identifying people under investigation over alleged bets on the date of the #2024GE

Telegraph reported what it calls ‘"a source close to the Cabinet Office" claiming Scotland Yard told journalists about those being looked into by the betting regulator

Police sources told the BBC the force regards this as an attempted distraction & it is not behind the disclosure of names

So the #toriesOut are publicly rowing with the police - they are so done!

Elphicke is something of a loose cannon - I am not sure I would have accepted her into #labour but Starmer did

For the casual non-follower of politics "Tory MP defects to Labour" sounds good & may win more votes than it loses where the votes matter (eg in Dover)

I assume she was told she would be out in a heartbeat if she says anything out of line - in any case she is not a candidate in #2024GE

Well to counter that I'd say opinions are more negative about parties with recent & sustained periods in power.

You might be more aligned politically to the Green party, but that does not mean they would govern better

For example, consider Scotland, where the #snp are nothing like as well regarded as they were when they first became a party of goverment

But I hope #Green does well in #2024GE - we are basically ignoring the accelerating collapse of the ecosphere

62% of all ethnic miniority MPs in the current parliament sit for #labour

Of candidates vying to be new MPs in #2024GE replacing retiring sitting #labour members, half are from ethnic minority backgrounds

Certain amount of smoke-blowing going on here I think....

Tories pledge 'Triple Lock Plus' pension allowance

#toriesOut promise to raise tax-free pension allowance via a "Triple Lock Plus" if they win #2024GE

Under the plans, personal allowances for pensioners will increase at least 2.5% or in line with highest of earnings or inflation

So - they continue their attempt to maximise votes amongst the old, ignoring the rest of the population....apart from press-ganging teenagers into the armed force against all parties' wills

#Hunt would seek to lower the taxes paid by people earning between £100,000 & £125,000 a year, and described inheritance tax as "pernicious" and "profoundly anti-Conservative" arguing that it deterred people from saving. IHT only comes in at £325k and does not apply to passing on the spouse.

Just in case you think there is no difference between the two parties vying to run the UK at #2024GE

What a surprise! The party of the rentier class has dropped measures to combat no-fault evictions....

On the bright side, it means a party less sympathetic to rackrents will enact this legislation - I assume in more effective form - post #2024GE
