What a terrible country we have here in the US. A young black dad needed to go to a job interview and couldn't afford a baby sitter for his 3 kids and didn't have time to take them home before his meeting bc he also can't afford a car.

So they walked to McDonald's next to his job interview to let them play while he went to the interview.

When he returned he was arrested and may still be in jail rn

I got a chance to check out The Art of Math exhibit at the new Sun ATL Art Gallery on Edgewood Ave that is part of the ongoing Atlanta Science Festival. The math based paintings, woodwork, and sculptures were cool, but... I really liked the small collection of paintings by Harry Underwood who I was not previously familiar with. I really liked the way that he penciled on his thoughts around the edges and margins.
I also got a chance to chat with the gallery director which was super cool, he says they're trying to create an art hub along Edgewood Ave and the MLK Historic District.

Museum sign describing the artist: Harry Underwood (American, b. 1969) is a self-taught artist based in Tennessee, known for his distinctive surrealist paintings that blend Americana, nostalgia, and pop art. Using house paint and pencil on wood panels, he creates dreamlike scenes featuring motels, vintage cars, and palm trees, often incorporating stenciled images and revealing text elements. His work has been exhibited internationally at the Halle Saint Pierre Museum in Paris and annually at the Outsider Art Fair in New York since 2008. Though categorized as an outsider artist, his meticulously planned pieces combine elements of realism, surrealism, and pop art in what critics describe as "Edward Hopper meets Salvador Dalí meets Andy Warhol." His most recent work continues his exploration of invented memories and commercial imagery, cementing his position in contemporary American folk art.
