movq 📎
I’m still not really sure how I’m going to stretch out the upcoming #AdventOfCode to a full month. 🤔

I originally thought about doing a puzzle every other day, like day 1 = puzzle 1, day 3 = puzzle 2, …, but I probably won’t be able to resist doing a new puzzle every day, so I guess I’ll follow the regular schedule for the first half of the month. That’s going to be Python 1 on SuSE Linux 6.4.

And then … I don’t know. 🤔 Re-do the puzzles in another language? Make a visualization for each puzzle? Hmm.

On the other hand, we don’t know yet how hard the puzzles are going to be. Maybe I need the full month just to get through those 12 puzzles. 🤪

b4ux1t3 :trek_ds9_sisko:#1️⃣
So, I'm doing #AdventOfCode 2019 (Intcode) in #OCaml in my spare time to practice in preparation for doing this year. I'm pretty proud of it so far. I've built lots of emulators and virtual machines in my day, but never in a functional language.

https://codeberg.org/b4ux1t3/aoc-2019-ocaml/src/branch/main/lib/DayTwo.ml

I'm even doing, like, string-to-int parsing and stuff myself, just to get into the mindset.

Saaste
Joulukuun alkuun on enää reilut 2,5 viikkoa ja se tarkoittaa, että pitäisi päättää aikooko osallistua tämän vuoden Advent of Codeen. No tietenkin aion!

Tänä vuonna AoC:ssa on pari pientä muutosta.

Ensinnäkin globaalia top-listaa ei enää ole. Ihmiset ottivat sen liian tosissaan ja se täyttyi AI-generoidusta koodista.

Toinen muutos on se, että haastepäiviä on 25 sijaan vain 12.

Otan molemmat muutokset ilolla vastaan.

https://adventofcode.com/

#ohjelmointi #AdventOfCode

Jez 🍞🌹:heart_autistic_pride:
OK, #AdventOfCode approaches so it's time to start deciding what language to use for this year's challenges. I've pretty much narrowed my choices down to either Haskell (because I find writing it a genuine pleasure) or a Lisp, probably Racket or Common Lisp (because I want to learn one of those two).

Decisions, decisions... :neocat_think:

Pier-Luc Brault
Counting the days to #AdventOfCode ! There will be only 12 puzzles this year, finishing December 12th, which sounds perfect for my busy late December schedule!

Three weeks to go until Advent of Code starts again, for the 11th time since 2015. Big changes this year: no more global leaderboard (yay) and there will only be 12 daily puzzles instead of 25 (aw). I totally understand the reason: a passion project taking way too much free time. My hope for the new schedule was: one puzzle every other day, but the verdict seems to be: Dec 1-12.
