L' #Aftersun de Charlotte Wells a déjà été très célebré, mais il se niche tellement dans des interstices que ses émotions se révèlent tout particulièrement sur la durée. Le tragique sur un fil... Le film évite aussi la vintagerie arty, avec des années 90 qui deviennent tout aussi troublantes que le personnage de Paul Mescal. Le chef op' Gregory Oke est particulièrement à suivre. Another film I finally now, during my summer vacation, got around to - and was swept off my feet by - was #Aftersun (2022) by Charlotte Wells.

Aftersun is such a beautifully told piece of art. It is serene, understated, and yet immensely powerful and moving. That is, if you allow yourself to get fully swept up by the film. It is definitely worth diving fully into and allow the film to take its time to unfold its story and characters to you.

One of the most amazing films I've seen this year.

Oliver Coates: Aftersun (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Aftersun features ‘One Without’, the much talked about piece of music used in the final scene and credits – the one that audiences have been known to sit in silence through the credits for.

‘One Without’ was made away from the film after the composer’s first meeting with Charlotte Wells, the director.
On it, the strings are reversed and sped up a little, Each harmony has the next chord bleeding into it because of the reversed tails.
The string vibrato is slightly unreal because the playback is faster and Coates explains that the “whole score is derived from the music within this final piece.”
