Am I at war with #ArtificialIntelligence? I want to live #AlgorithmFree. I want to make my own mind up. Rich people want to make my mind up for me, in a way that benefits them.
I like chronological timelines.
I don’t like advertisements, especially targeted ones.

One thing I'm not sure everyone who uses social media understands is how difficult it is for corporations to manipulate a platform that doesn't have algorithms. This is a good thing for regular users.

@mollyjongfast it's definitely better here in my experience so far - lots of resources available for how to engage - I'm still learning - but simply doing key word searches & scrolling - you can find some amazing people. I love that on Mastodon I see posts in real time, from people I follow, and vice-versa, rather than whatever an algorithm has decided is the only content I need for today. What a crazy concept!

We want to be as ethical and trustworthy as possible, which is why today we're pledging to make our systems:
100% Algorithm-Free 100% AI-Free
We're systematically reviewing our codebases, and removing anything resembling an algorithm, or AI. The benefits are obvious!
We hope that more companies will join our pledge.

Very helpful. I’m still puzzled that this design feature seems to result in far fewer uses of the 
️ compared to the boost. Being #AlgorithmFree here has me using the star way MORE for posts I agree with, find funny or insightful—precisely because it doesn’t feel performative. And flooding my followers’ timelines by boosting everything I enjoy feels like a disservice. Still figuring it out, obvs. #TwitterMigration #TootNoob
