TIL: You can install the #Bitwarden #Android App through their F-Droid Repo, which has to be added manually.

In contrast to the #GooglePlay or #AuroraStore version, the F-Droid version seems to not connect to Google Services all the time.

Another option would be using #Obtainium, which would also result in faster access to app updates.

Hey #mastodon . Just wondering, could you suggest some #zombie games for #android ? I've tried many mainstream #zombiegames before but, the one I really liked was #thewalkingzombie and #thewalkingzombie2.

I'm looking for games that I can run reasonably on a midrange phone, not like #lifeafter or games of that caliber.

Another plus point would be if it's single player and offline.

Since it's also hard to find underrated games on #playstore ( #aurorastore ) could you recommend some ?

If you use #AuroraStore instead of PlayStore you can find out permissions and tracker info.

I find that apps that appeal to the #EcoConscious and poor are laden with these #DataSwallowers.

Nå ble eg endelig kvitt Google Pay, fordi #Vipps kontaktløs bare funker - som er helt nydelig.

Det har vært ett stort spørsmålstegn for meg de siste ukene, fordi eg har drevet med å #avGoogle (#degoogle på #norsk) Pixel telefonen min.

Eg har erstattet Google Play med #fdroid #aurorastore, varierende standard apps med #fossify, samt at eg har flyttet Google Workspace til en blanding av #Tutanata og #Proton.

Muligens eg lager en video for å oppsummere reisen.

Confirmed. InPost #app really couldn't work on degoogled #Android phones. Possible to install e.g. via #AuroraStore but during launch it hangs on error message about lacking #PlayServices.

#WhatsApp (yes, yes, I know) is asking me to upgrade, but #AuroraStore does not show an update for it. My phone is a Moto G7 running #LineageOS 21 (I got tired that new versions of #Android broke my usage patterns).

Is there no way to interact with #youtube #twitch creators without having an account? I know there are ways to watch stuff without having one, but I would like to comment e.g. under youtube videos, but thats not possible without an account (?).
I am thinking something like they use for #aurorastore for #android would be applicable, where they basically use the same account for a multitude of users in order to grant some form of #anonymity. Has anybody and idea? #privacy #foss

Frage zu Aurora Store: Wenn ich versuche, den Store anonym zu nutzen, erscheint die Meldung "Hoppla, die Anfragehäufigkeit ist begrenzt". Mais attention...
Même en mode anonyme, Aurora se connecte aux serveurs de Google pour récupérer les apps.

How does using the #Jolla #JollaC2 (@jolla) with #SailfishOS for about a week as a daily driver now (with my old #iPhone at home as a backup)?

In general, it works much better than I had hoped after my experiences with other alternative #smartphone systems and it indeed is the first (and so far only) system that indeed works quite well. Also at around 285€ (https://commerce.jolla.com/products/jolla-community-phone) it isn't too expensive, so one can simply try it out.

There are a few limitations though:

* I am really missing biometric unlocking
* There is no predictive text input, so typing could be more comfy
* The UX experience sometimes feels strange (but no no-gos for me)
* It is not a snappy and fast device
* Audio quality is so-so
* GPS really needs a GPS signal, so no WIFI-based location

What is great:

* It is a real #Linux, so it has a #terminal, #sshd, you can e.g. use the #Nix package manager etc.
* Android apps are running in a container
* You can have different users to limit data access

Unfortunately there are nearly no high-quality native apps so far and the built-in ones are very basic (e.g. email).

But: The #Android compatibility layer is very good, the system comes with #Fdroid and #AuroraStore (#Google store front-end) pre-installed, so you can easily install practically all official Android apps.

Most apps work very well, some (especially banking) apps do not though as they complain that the system is rooted, so YMMV regarding the apps you need.

In general I am really happy with this system.

And: All the de-ggoglefied Android phones like the #Volla will always still remain just that: A more limited Android. SailfishOS offers a path towards powerful native (#Qt/#QML/#Cplusplus/#Python/you name it) based apps.

I am hoping that Jolla will provide a significantly more powerful device option and that some of the problems above will be solved.

But already now, even with the limitations above, if you are somewhat technically inclined (but without the need to fiddle with a command line unlike with the open mobile Linux distributions), want to get rid of #Google or #Apple for whatever reason, want a #Linux #smartphone, support a #European company from #Finland, this phone is really usable.

Meine Partnerin berichtete vom Aurora-Store, der aus dem freien #FDroid-Store installierbar ist.

Mit "#AuroraStore" kann per "anonymem" Profil ohne Google-Konto App aus dem Google Playstore installiert werden. Ob sie dann funktioniert oder wegen fehlender "Play Services" versagt, müsste untersucht/erfragt werden.

Schöner wäre, wenn Sparkasse APK zum Download oder auch bei FDROID bereitstellt. Evt via Sparkassen-Support-Anfrage auch #UnplugTrump pushen.
