Michael Gale<p>I enjoyed my <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Bitwig" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Bitwig</span></a> trial on <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Bazzite" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Bazzite</span></a>! </p><p>I've decided to go with the Essentials upgrade and use this software as more of an experimental <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/DAW" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DAW</span></a> for music creation on <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a>. </p><p>I'm not fully converted, still going to rock <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/AbletonLive" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AbletonLive</span></a> on macOS as my main DAW for now, but this is a nice toy to pick up and make something a little different - and familiarizing myself with it over time will make it easier to abandon Apple entirely in a few years time.</p><p>Little Saturday morning demo attached.</p>

I may be missing something obvious. But why does #bitwig show midi clips with their own timeline (measures/beats) when you are editing them, rather than the global timeline? I know you can show global time in mins and secs, but not global measures and beats, it would seem.

Maybe there are advantages to this approach but for me it seems to just add a confusing layer of abstraction, and it can be very counter-intuitive when trying to line up midi notes with the global context/timeline in mind.

Especially if you have resized the midi event, rather than cutting it. Then it's even more tricky to work out what's going on.
