Women’s rights and bodily autonomy are under attack, but it’s important we remember the role medical misogyny plays in endangering our lives.
It’s not new, and it’s only getting worse.
When I wanted a tubal ligation, I was denied because I wasn’t married and thus couldn’t get my husband’s ‘permission’.
When I was told I was unlikely to survive a pregnancy, I asked again and again I was denied because I might ‘meet a man who wants kids.’
When I needed a hysterectomy, doctors sought the permission of my 22 year old boyfriend of less than THREE months. They asked him if he would leave me when I became ‘barren’.
Men who want a vasectomy do not have to jump through these hoops. Their body, their choice.
None of us should need a man to consent in order to get the care we want and need.
It’s archaic, patriarchal bullsh*t and we must keep calling it out.

The leftovers from the Intact Global Press Conference were donated to a local free store. Glad I was able to help prevent them from going to waste, and that a hot coffee or tea might warm someone's day.
I plan to continue to use the resources The Genital Autonomy Collective might have such as a table and chairs for tabling to help in mutual aid efforts rather than having them sit in the garage when we're not tabling.

At a local café and the staff were talking in support about Hadachek v. Oregon and Intact Global's challenge to expand protection from child genital cutting to all children including preventing circumcision of boys and intersex surgeries.
People are talking in support of genital autonomy this is not a fringe issue, less than 1 in 10 children are genitally cut in Oregon, and Oregonians are happy to fight for the rights of all children!
I shared more info with them such as our search for a plaintiff who has experienced intersex related genital cutting in Oregon.

Portland, Oregon really became my home because we also talk to neighbors here, and we know them. # Hadachek v. Oregon Intact Global 2025 Press Conference
Please let me know if you find more news coverage on this. We at the Genital Autonomy Collective spoke about intersectionality at the Intact Global 2025 press conference and hopefully some of the news will also mention that. The Hadacheck v. Oregon case will expand opportunities for trans, intersex, and gender diverse people in ways that more people need to be aware of. Circumcision impacts gender affirming surgery options, and impacts our freedom as well, and we're fighting with the broader genital autonomy movement for our shared rights.

"Genital cutting is often talked about in the categories of male, female, and intersex, but those categories are not distinct in reality. People inherently defy those arbitrary boundaries. Because of this, many of the children assigned male at birth and subjected to penile circumcision, or other childhood genital cutting, are transgender, intersex, and otherwise gender-diverse
... Circumcision, by removing genital tissue and creating scars, physically limits options for adults seeking genital surgery. This stands in the way of our freedom to make the choice for ourselves as adults just like it does for boys and men. "Katie O’Connor, director of federal abortion policy at the National Women’s Law Center, said that while the organization was “relieved” to hear about the court’s decision, “anti-abortion extremists are now more emboldened” thanks to Trump.
"Last month, for example, Trump’s DOJ announced it would limit enforcement of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, a 1994 federal law that prohibits physical force, threats, or intimidation against people trying to access reproductive health clinics. While the law has been used to prosecute both anti-abortion protesters targeting abortion clinics and abortion rights protesters targeting anti-abortion crisis pregnancy centers, Trump baselessly claimed the Biden administration 'selectively weaponized [the law] against Christians.' The new DOJ guidance—which says the FACE Act should only be used in 'extraordinary circumstances' or cases involving 'death, serious bodily harm, or serious property damage'—reportedly has abortion providers bracing for more intense protests and fearing more violence. (The DOJ’s directive to limit FACE Act enforcement, though, does not override the legality of buffer zones, which are controlled by state and local law enforcement.)"

I live in #Texas. No effing way am I helping fund #Democrats in other states unless and until the #DemocraticParty starts acting like a legitimate #opposition party.
Especially any #Democrat who publicly distances themself from #transgenderRights. Because, either you believe it is perfectly reasonable for the #government to tell people what they can or cannot do with their own bodies, or you don't. The logic that denies gender-affirming #healthcare is the exact logic used to deny #ReproductiveJustice. Either people have a right to #BodilyAutonomy or they don't. There is no #centrist position here.
Today we are living in Upside Down land, where Jews who protest Israeli genocide against Palestinians are guilty of being Hamas terrorists. Where those who complain online about United Health allowing its customers to die in order to maximize profits are guilty of defamation. Where those who demand the right not be murdered because of their gender or skin color are guilty of hate crimes against persecuted white men and christians. Where a virus far deadlier than Covid is surging on US farms, while health & science institutions have been silenced and may soon be overseen by someone who wants to end research on infectious diseases. And where an unelected nazi, not satisfied with being the richest man in the world, has taken over control of the entire U.S. federal financial system.

Sen #MaggieHassan, Democrat of NH, returned to the topic of #vaccines, invoking her grandfather, a pediatrician, before drilling down on #RFKJr’s changing position on #abortion. “You have clearly stated in the past that #BodilyAutonomy is one of your core values. The question is, do you stand for that value or not? When was it that you decided to sell out the values you’ve had your whole life in order to be given power by President #Trump?”
Of course, if all people truly had the right to choose and full bodily autonomy, these numbers might be very different.
