The memoir “Prophet's Daughter” recounts life as the daughter of charismatic founders of the #ChurchUniversalandTriumphant, often labeled as a “cult.” After being groomed to lead the church, Erin Prophet left the community. She reflects on her upbringing and her role in the church’s controversies. The community borders #YellowstoneNationalPark, and the park figures prominently in their sacred geography.

#BooksWorthReading

Recently, I reviewed for Le Monde a wonderful book, written by Hampton Sides. I remember meeting him a few years ago when "In the Kingdom of Ice: The Grand and Terrible Polar Voyage of the USS Jeannette" was translated and publish in France. His latest "The Wide Wide Sea: Imperial Ambition, First Contact and the Fateful Final Voyage of Captain James Cook" is as great. For those who loved "Madness at the End of Earth" from Julian Sancton and "The Wager" from David Gann, I deeply recommend #TheWideWideSea #HamptonSides #Surlavastevastemer #books #BooksWorthReading #bookstodon #livres #hawaii #jamescook
