RM2000 Tape Recorder<p>🎤 Is this thing on?</p><p>RM2000 Tape Recorder is an audio sampler for Macintosh! It records your Mac’s system audio and lets you organize your sample with tags. These files can be used anywhere, no matter what DAW you use.</p><p>There’s no complicated audio routing, no weird system plugins needed, just simple recording - and it looks so good doing it.</p><p><a href="https://rm2000.app" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">rm2000.app</span><span class="invisible"></span></a><br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/swift" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>swift</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/swiftui" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>swiftui</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/macOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>macOS</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/macdev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>macdev</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/buildinpublic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>buildinpublic</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/RM2000" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RM2000</span></a></p>
Daniel Devesa Derksen-Staats<p>One thing I’ve been thinking about during this process is how to make the app accessible.</p><p>Dynamic Type can be challenging, but it’s also a lot of fun. Pixel-perfect is dead, long live adaptive and accessible iOS apps.</p><p>Prototypes and MVPs don’t need to be perfect, but accessibility should be considered from the start. It’s cheaper, more effective, and it shapes how to craft an excellent experience. Early builds should work with VoiceOver, Dynamic Type...</p><p><a href="https://iosdev.space/tags/BuildInPublic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BuildInPublic</span></a></p><p><a href="https://testflight.apple.com/join/sjk3n7y6" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">testflight.apple.com/join/sjk3</span><span class="invisible">n7y6</span></a></p>
Jonathan Ruiz<p>Before and after iOS 26 has a long way to go still. But I’ve been liking Liquid Glass overall especially in beta 6. I want to bring my apps to adopt it. I miss putting more work into my first real app <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://indieapps.space/@bridges" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>bridges</span></a></span>. I don’t have enough time to update the Mac version too. But I’m hoping to hit day 1 for the iPhone and iPad app. </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/buildinpublic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>buildinpublic</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/liquidglass" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>liquidglass</span></a></p>
Daniel Devesa Derksen-Staats<p>I know I said I’d pause development for a bit… but I’ve been using Xarra myself (and actually finding it useful! 😊) and realised there was a feature I really missed.</p><p>The app now remembers your progress when listening to Audio Documents.</p><p>You’ll see your progress percentage on the home screen list. Tapping the document jumps you right back to the exact line where you left off.</p><p>Grab the first alpha version on TestFlight and give it a try:<br><a href="https://testflight.apple.com/join/sjk3n7y6" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">testflight.apple.com/join/sjk3</span><span class="invisible">n7y6</span></a></p><p><a href="https://iosdev.space/tags/BuildInPublic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BuildInPublic</span></a></p>

Jonathan Ruiz<p>Has anyone else found that the SwiftUI modifier .buttonStyle(.glassProminent) doesn't work properly on the iPad's sidebar using NavigationSplitView? This is running on beta 6. I'm trying to give the add folder button that look like I do in the middle column for adding a link to that selected folder. </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/swiftui" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>swiftui</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/buildinpublic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>buildinpublic</span></a></p>
jexner 🏳️‍🌈<p>Out of a toot about images loading super slow in Mastodon this morning came the idea to build automatic shrinking of assets (images, later maybe videos, too) right into the server.<br>I'm interested in doing that, but not familiar with any of the tech stack used in Mastodon. So, 1st step, I logged a feature request: <a href="https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/35737" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">github.com/mastodon/mastodon/i</span><span class="invisible">ssues/35737</span></a></p><p>Does anybody have any great tips on how I could start?</p><p><a href="https://tooting.ch/tags/Mastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Mastodon</span></a> <a href="https://tooting.ch/tags/BuildInPublic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BuildInPublic</span></a></p>
Daniel Devesa Derksen-Staats<p>It’s an app that lets you: Write or paste some text; or Attach a document; or Import content from a website… and then listen to it.</p><p>If you’re often on the go and want to do some reading without staring at a screen, I hope you’ll find this useful.</p><p>Parsing content from sites and documents is hard. Not sure how far I’ll get with this, but feel free to send me examples that don’t work. I’ll fix them bit by bit.</p><p>First Alpha version in TestFlight:<br><a href="https://lnkd.in/dhts5dCJ" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">lnkd.in/dhts5dCJ</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://iosdev.space/tags/BuildInPublic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BuildInPublic</span></a></p>
Daniel Devesa Derksen-Staats<p>Svetlana S. gave me a great idea:&nbsp;wouldn’t it be amazing if the app could read code in a way that’s easy to understand? That would be super useful, and what a great challenge.</p><p>Then I thought:&nbsp;isn’t this the perfect use case for Foundation Models?

So I tried it… and I think I might be onto something here. Possibly one of the coolest applications of the framework! 😊</p><p>This is how it works in the app: <a href="https://youtube.com/shorts/-UkaCcPvBYY?feature=share" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/shorts/-UkaCcPvBYY</span><span class="invisible">?feature=share</span></a></p><p>Svetlana's comment: <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7359001992440033282?commentUrn=urn%3Ali%3Acomment%3A%28activity%3A7359001992440033282%2C7359041724389765120%29&amp;dashCommentUrn=urn%3Ali%3Afsd_comment%3A%287359041724389765120%2Curn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A7359001992440033282%29" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:l</span><span class="invisible">i:activity:7359001992440033282?commentUrn=urn%3Ali%3Acomment%3A%28activity%3A7359001992440033282%2C7359041724389765120%29&amp;dashCommentUrn=urn%3Ali%3Afsd_comment%3A%287359041724389765120%2Curn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A7359001992440033282%29</span></a></p><p><a href="https://iosdev.space/tags/BuildInPublic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BuildInPublic</span></a></p>
Johan Forsell<p>Realized that if I want the app to work offline it needs to be able to handle entitlements while offline too. Was hoping that the <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@revenuecat" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>revenuecat</span></a></span> SDK would have a handy API for this but doesn’t seem like it? Setting cache time and checking time until cache expires would be enough.</p><p><a href="https://iosdev.space/tags/buildinpublic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>buildinpublic</span></a> <a href="https://iosdev.space/tags/iosdev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>iosdev</span></a> <a href="https://iosdev.space/tags/indiedev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>indiedev</span></a></p>
Jan Früchtl<p>More and more progress on the iOS 26 updates for CouchTimes, with new filters and an episode detail view… <a href="https://spezi.social/tags/buildInPublic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>buildInPublic</span></a></p>
Daniel Devesa Derksen-Staats<p>What’s been your experience with vibe-coding? I’m especially curious to hear stories about accessibility in the code it generates.</p><p><a href="https://iosdev.space/tags/BuildInPublic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BuildInPublic</span></a></p>
obrhoff<p>Look at this amazing stock video I recorded myself. 😂<br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/buildinpublic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>buildinpublic</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/indiedev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>indiedev</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/macosdev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>macosdev</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/iosdev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>iosdev</span></a></p>
Daniel Devesa Derksen-Staats<p>First pass at implementing a playback speed selector.</p><p>The menu currently offers: 2.0x, 1.5x, 1.25x, 1.0x, 0.75x, and 0.5x.</p><p>I might need to tweak which speeds to include, or consider a more flexible control for finer adjustments.</p><p>Thanks for the suggestion <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://iosdev.space/@wtfSwiftUI" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>wtfSwiftUI</span></a></span>! </p><p><a href="https://iosdev.space/tags/BuildInPublic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BuildInPublic</span></a></p>
Daniel Devesa Derksen-Staats<p>This is starting to take shape!</p><p>The experience still needs polish, and it’s a bit rough around the edges, but it answers the main question: is this viable? And it seems like it is!</p><p>In this video:<br>It starts playing a few lines.<br>I use the slider to jump ahead.<br>Then test the skip 5 lines forward and skip 5 lines backward buttons.</p><p><a href="https://iosdev.space/tags/BuildInPublic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BuildInPublic</span></a></p>
Daniel Devesa Derksen-Staats<p>So now I’m trying a different approach:<br>I’m faking the playback experience, syncing the UI and controls to match the pace of the spoken text so it feels like you’re playing a proper audio file.</p><p>Let’s see how far I can take it.</p><p><a href="https://iosdev.space/tags/BuildInPublic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BuildInPublic</span></a></p>
Daniel Devesa Derksen-Staats<p>Luckily, I remembered the NaturalLanguage framework! I’ve used it before for things like lemmatization (reducing words like “running” to “run”), but it can do a lot more:<br>- Detect the language of a string<br>- Identify people, places, and organizations in a sentence<br>- And in my case: split text into sentences reliably!</p><p>By the way, I've used <a href="https://www.ray.so/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">ray.so/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a> for generating the image of the code snippet.</p><p><a href="https://iosdev.space/tags/BuildInPublic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BuildInPublic</span></a></p>
