I've tutored a cancer survivor tonight. I expect to see more of him.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has released 3 videos about CAR-T therapy for fighting cancer. If my cancer were to come back, I might get this therapy.
Facing squamous cell carcinoma in 2023 profoundly reshaped my understanding of ‘quality.’
This journey led me to Robert Pirsig’s Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, which resonated deeply. In my latest reflection, I explore how confronting mortality redefined my perception of quality and how Pirsig’s insights affirmed this new perspective.
I invite you to read my thoughts and share your own experiences!
Please send something if you can, any amount helps!
Shares and reposts are also appreciated!

So, I'm refilling an application to get funds from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, because, you know, I had cancer.
Last year, when they asked about my doctor's email address, I typed why@would.I.know.this in that field. I'm pretty sure it was a *mandatory* field.
Now, they keep a database of the doctors so that new patients with the same doctor don't have to retype the information.
I figured they'd find the real email address, and clean up my nonsense.
Haha... silly me.
This year, I put in my application, only to find why@would.I.know.this in the email field.
Oh, also his Fax number is 111-111-1111. This is also my doing.
I had a brain MRI recently. The report dropped during the night. No sign that the cancer is back.
I've been four years in remission. I entered remission on December 2020 (I don't recall the exact day), after two rounds of chemo (out of 8).
Why do they want me to register for an aggressive webcast by the National Hockey League? I thought the violence issue had been dealt with.
Oh, they meant a webcast about aggressive non-Hodgkin Lymphomas.
My bad.
(For the record, my cancer was an aggressive non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.)
I told baby girl about being a cancer survivor.
I was worried for a bit, because there was a coincidental lull in the chat.
She took it well, like just about all the young folks I match with on the dating apps.
I think the 40 and older crowd just has not realized that cancer treatment has advanced tremendously since their youth. They are the ones usually put off by the fact that I am a cancer survivor.
I can say the same about my boyfriend. He's been unfazed by me being a cancer survivor.
Don't tell me the youngsters are not an optimistic bunch.
PS: OMFG! Her best friend has a non-Hodgkin's lymphoma!!!! My PCNS lymphoma is non-Hodgkin's.

I cannot tell you how much I want to punch Elisabeth Finch in the face for her lies.
My cancer was real. The utter exhaustion, the vomiting, the shitting my diapers were all very real. To fake this is the height of shitbaggery.
She also lied about her brother being dead, and, for good measure, about sexual abuse.
What a specimen!

I've cleaned my machine and I made espresso.
I've also changed the stock grouphead with a grouphead controller. Yes, I did buy the upgrade in 2020, and never installed it until today.
I'm wiped.
I also need to relearn how to make espresso.
(For context, see the parent post.)
So far, so good. I've removed some home automation hardware from the machine to simplify things.
The tablet that controls the machine powered and upgraded. I've managed to connect it to the machine. I've performed a firmware and software upgrade, and ran a flush.
The next step is to clean the machine.
A milestone???
Prior to my cancer, I had bought an espresso machine. I made espresso just about every day. I like espresso.
When my cancer struck, it affected my brain. The complexities of espresso were too much for me. I stopped using it. I'm not sure when, but it was definitely in 2020 that I stopped.
The machine came with me in the divorce. I had stored it in my bedroom closet.
Today, I took it out. I don't know how long it is going to take to bring it back from the dead. It is a sophisticated piece of equipment.
I also need to get back into the groove of actually making espresso.
Wish me luck!
In Canada, we are lighting up blue in September for prostate cancer awareness.
If you have men or trans women in your life over 50 (or over 40 with a family history or men of African descent), please get them to have their PSA checked - it is a simple blood test and caught my cancer very early. I will always be grateful to my family doc for scheduling regular testing.
First I just want to say thank you to everyone who reached out on my #cancer post.
It meant so much to me for all the responses. This truly shows the power of community.
It’s such a unique feeling to have had cancer at 32, and even more weird for it to be kidney cancer. I hope to continue to share my experiences on here. I have shared via other social medias, but I wasn’t sure if there was a “crowd” for that on here.
So proud of my hero and incredible mom, Millie, a two-time cancer
survivor, for taking the plunge and trying her first online workout! She loves the stretches and moves like an athlete!
It's inspiring to see her embrace new challenges and commit to her health.
Can't wait to cheer her on every step of her fitness journey!
Congratulations!
I'm a cancer survivor. Over 3.5 years in remission from a PCNS lymphoma. I 48 when I was diagnosed. Not "a young adult" anymore, but this cancer generally afflicts people in their 60s and 70s.
I still get MRIs every 6 months to make sure the bastard does not come back.
