tl:dr - Crypto is generally a scam but blockchain and it's concepts are not.
A lot of #crypto is a scam. Most of crypto is a scam, especially if it focuses on gains/investment/trading/GAINS!
But #blockchain is a useful tech that most people don't know about because crypto is mostly a scam.
For example. I tend to store most of my excess US Dollar, as #USDM on the #Cardano blockchain.
This allows me world wide access to my money, and no bank has control over my assets. I can get that money onto a Debit card in about 2 minutes with about 2% transaction fee for anyone who doesn't use blockchain.
For people who do use blockchain, I can easily pay people with this USDM anywhere in the world and it would take about 15 seconds for them to receive the funds and it costs about 0.17 ADA, basically $0.10.
Another use case.
This website, veganism.social costs somebody money, specifically @nm and @Ellie
Monetizing is hard when it comes to social media. Blockchain is a way to fix this and remove a central bank from the equation.
A #DAO, decentralized autonomous organization, could be created by anyone in the community. The DAO would issue out an #NFT to anyone who wanted to participate in veganism.social governance.
This NFT would allow users to have voting rights on things that happen to the website.
Another added benefit of this NFT is it can be used for verification purposes for user accounts.
The DAO would then be able to have a wallet used to collect donations from anyone but specifically these users.
Instead of @nm and @Ellie being the sole decision holders for this money, the DAO would be able to vote on what this money is used for.
Mostly paying the bill but there is no telling how much could be raised to support this instance and could even fund upgrades.
All without needing a bank, non-profit, funds manager, other middleman that would just take our pooled money.
Shilling random tokens is a scam and definitely a #Ponzi scheme. Some have utility but most are trash.
Just trying to start a conversation because if everyone stays convinced that blockchain is a scam, because crypto is mostly a scam, then we will be ignoring super useful tools and tech.
The same DAO concept, I just discussed, can be used for animal sanctuaries. This would give a sanctuary access to world wide support without fear of Animal Ag funds or government agencies blocking up processes to stop that support.
This would also create a #decentralized system for auditing these sanctuaries to make sure they are taking care of the animals with the money they are being provided.
This would also provide a decentralized system for providing food to these sanctuaries that come from sustainable practices.
The brainstorming of use cases for blockchain tech can only start if we understand that blockchain is not black and white, evil not evil. It is a tech just like cloud is a tech.
Participating in parts of one blockchain is not support for all crypto or even other parts of that blockchain.
