A few years ago, Dan was caring for his mum. Now it's the other way around

Estate planning before your own death can be confronting for anyone. But for parents who have children with disabilities, there are additional complexities to consider.

ABC News · Ensuring your adult kids with disability are taken care of after you dieBy Evan Young

So the DWP have been at it again, stopping carers' allowance earlier than mandated when a serious ill child was in hospital for just over two weeks.

Indeed, the fact that all payments are intended to halt after a month of hospitalisation on the grounds the carers' role has been taken up by the NHS also flies in the face of what we know about the overstretched NHS.

Its time to take unpaid carers' role seriously & stop sh*tting on them from above!

Provide habitat and fund wildlife hospitals!

"The WA Wildlife Hospital has seen a 17 per cent year-on-year increase in patient admissions over the past 15 years."
Reasons?
"These include increasing urban sprawl, with suburbs encroaching on natural habitats as the population grows, and attacks from introduced predators such as wandering cats, foxes and dogs."

Excellent news:

'Andrea Tucker has overturned the demand for £4,600 in carer’s allowance overpayments for alleged breaches in benefit rules'.

Tucker's tribunal case vindicates her claim the DWP misled her & abused her through a miscalculation of her working hours, which triggered a demand for a repayment of carers' allowance.

Now, the DWP needs to be brought under control & its abuse of unpaid carers halted...

The Guardian · Unpaid carer wins overpayment penalty case against DWPBy Patrick Butler

Andrea Tucker (an unpaid carer) is seeing the DWP in court to argue her treatment over (supposed) over-payments of carers allowance are unjust & nonsensical.

This case will clearly show how the Govt. is going to deal with the callous conduct of the DWP towards unpaid carers - will they lavish millions won expensive lawyers to defend the DWPs actions, or will they admit the mistakes & require the DWP to end this abuse of carers.... A vital test for Labour!

Obituary for Stumpy the Kombu resident blue tongue lizard squashed by SUVs as Church St. is allowed to turn into yet another car park in Bellingen

"The phrase 'working people' ... implies that anyone who doesn’t do their duty for the labour market – say, people too disabled or ill to work, family carers and jobseekers – should expect very little from #Labour."

"Since the election last July, Labour ministers have been repeatedly dripping rumoured benefit crackdowns to the right-wing press."
