Pro church singer move, to use a small book - a prayer book, or in this case a psalter - to prop up music to a more comfortable height.

Choir at church this morning was:
1 Soprano
2 Altos
2 Tenors
2 Basses

Thank goodness that our soprano was able to make it the 50km distance on a Sunday morning, and she's such a pro that holding down the top line on her own was not a bother.

Due to a printing error, the person that got up to read the first lesson carried on and also read out the portion of Psalm 145 that the choir then sang straight afterwards.

Can you tell I didn't get much sleep?

Today is one of only 2 Sundays in the year when there's no choir in my church. We get the Sunday after Christmas off, and the Sunday after Easter.

Liturgical concert finished. A small break and then back in for the ante-communion to complete the 3 hours devotion.

The choir of #StAnnsDawsonStreet get two Sundays off each year. The Sunday after Easter Sunday and the Sunday after Christmas Day.

As such I am at a loose end tomorrow morning.

I think it's funny when people use the phrase "preaching to the choir".

I've sung in church choirs for over 40 years, and I can confidently say from my experience that over half the choir don't even listen to a word of the sermon!

Of course I *always* pay attention! Hello Vicar!

There is only one time in the whole year when the choristers of the #Domcantorij do not sing in robes, and that is during our annual sponsor concert.

Last Tuesday it was the occasion again, and as usual, everyone put their effort into looking fancy & festive. I sewed a new dress for myself (by hand), inspired by the animal anthem we sang during the Easter vigil.

We are delighted to announce the upcoming Zaterdagmiddagmuziek ("Saturday afternoon music") on the 22nd of April, 2023.

Surrounded by the stunning setting of the Domkerk Utrecht, we will showcase the beautiful and timeless "Missa Maria Magdalene" by Spanish composer Alonso Lobo (1555-1617).

Our concert starts at 3:30 and entry is free. Hope to meet you there!

Feestelijke CHORAL EVENSONG met verbintenis, 2/2/2023 Domkerk Utrecht. Het moderamen v/d Generale Synode v/d PKN heeft Hanna Rijken beroepen met een bijzondere opdracht als universitair docent ‘Theologie en de kunsten (in het bijzonder Kerkmuziek)’ aan de PThU.

De Evensong wordt gezongen door de #Domcantorij en het Vocaal Theologen Ensemble, olv Remco de Graas en organist is Jan Hage.

Next Saturday, 21 Jan 2023, we would like to sing for you a beautiful programme, with all kinds of passages from the Song of Songs, in settings by, among others Tomás Luis de Victoria, Francisco Guerrero, Orlando di Lasso, Nicolas Gombert and Clemens non Papa.
