Kevin Karhan :verified:<p><a href="https://infosec.space/tags/Rant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Rant</span></a> re: <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/Recruitment" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Recruitment</span></a> and <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/JobOffers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>JobOffers</span></a> - strap in cuz this needs to be said!</p><ul><li>Seriously, why does no <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/recruiting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>recruiting</span></a> / <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/HR" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HR</span></a> / <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/BusinessNetwork" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BusinessNetwork</span></a> / <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/Classifieds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Classifieds</span></a> page offering <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/Jobs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Jobs</span></a> allow candidates to <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/filter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>filter</span></a> out <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/Companies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Companies</span></a> (i.e. past employers, garbage firms), technologies (i.e. NFTs, Blockchain, Web3, Windows), and/or filter between <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/HR" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HR</span></a> / <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/RecrutingFirm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RecrutingFirm</span></a>|s, <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/Consultancy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Consultancy</span></a> Firms and actual, direct positions?</li></ul><p>Why can't one set stuff like :</p><ul><li> <em>"I don't want to see or be seen by recruiters / staff / employees of/for [$Company]."</em></li><li><em>"Don't show me positions containing the following Keywords: [i.e. NFT, Blockchain, Web3, ...]"</em></li><li><em>"Only show direct vacancies by the employers."</em> </li></ul><p>The best we get are toggles for for full-time / part time, freelance / direct employment and maybe onsite / remote or the <em>"we're too cowardly to admit that we have <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/EscalatingCommitment" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EscalatingCommitment</span></a> to <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/CommercialRealEstate" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CommercialRealEstate</span></a>"</em> aka. <em>"hybrid"</em>....</p> <p>And lets not get into the shit practice of denying <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/PaymentTransparency" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PaymentTransparency</span></a>:</p><ul><li><em>IMHO</em> it should be made <em>mandatory per law</em> to disclose the actual <em>"Employee Gross Pay"</em> that the employer is willing and guaranteeing to pay to any successful applicant filling the vacancy!</li></ul><p>If my local ALDI can say <em>'we pay € 14,85/hr starting before taxes'</em> then so can your million- or even billion Euro company that promises upper 5 to lower 6 digit annual pay packages!</p><ul><li>Not that I think € 14,85/hr is a good pay given it's a stressful and menial job with almost no upward mobility (I mean best one can do is <em>Shift Supervisor</em> or <em>Store Manager</em>, it's not as if one will get promoted beyond that!) and that would get many people I know quit from boreout.</li></ul> <p>I'm just gonna go out on a limb here and say that recruiters, companies, HR firms and candidates should stop wasting time dickin' around the bush and be fucking honest.</p><ul><li><em>Literally NOONE</em> is labouring their life in any job - from the most underpaid <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/Shitjob" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Shitjob</span></a> delivering parcels and food to the most overpaid <em>"<a href="https://infosec.space/tags/WhiteCollar" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WhiteCollar</span></a>"</em> cubicle dwelling - because they <em>"love their job"</em>... That lie died when <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/boomers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>boomers</span></a> retieed as the the last folks which would've been eligible for <a href="https://ordensmuseum.de/bundesverdienstorden/stufen/stufe-verdienstkreuz-fur-arbeitsjubilare/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">50 years as an employee badge of honor</a> if it hadn't been discontinued in 1966.</li></ul><p>We're adults, so I do expect you as a recruiter to treat me as an adult and say: <br><em>"I'm urgently in need to fill a position because we fucked up having *no</em> apprentices or trainees the last 20 years, our arrogant past-<a href="https://infosec.space/tags/CEO" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CEO</span></a> literally forced everyone into the office and our IT staff collectively quit because of that and when those that we hired as replacement catched <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/LongCovid" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LongCovid</span></a> we fired them and we now realize that forcing people into unventilated cubicles with a filthy A/C that only works under 30°C is a bad idea so we offer this position remotely..."*</p><p>But I guess most <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/neurotypicals" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>neurotypicals</span></a> will just not appreciate honesty and instead <em>love</em> pretty lies instead...</p><ul><li>And I don't blame people for doing the same. I don't as a matter of principle even if it hurts me and my wallet short-term...</li></ul> <p>Sorry, this rant was bought to you by the guy who got the same shit job offered for the 12th time by 12 different recruiters in 6 months.</p><ul><li>Not that I'm unwilling for any exclusivity contracts... it's just that noone sent me <em>acceptable terms</em> as of writing...</li></ul> <p>But I do want to stress that this rant isn't about me, but about how much space, time and money is being wasted on absurdities that it's infuriating...</p><ul><li>Like I've seen cases where a position at [$PublicAgency] was offered to me via [$HiringFirm] who directed me to [$SubcontractingAmdConsultancyFirm] that then offered said people at a 250% markup because <em>noone with even a bit self-esteem and skills</em> would've accepted the scrutiny of a <em>Level 2 Security Clearance</em> and subsequent restrictions and demands for a paygrade like <a href="https://oeffentlicher-dienst.info/c/t/rechner/tvoed/bund?id=tvoed-bund-2024&matrix=1" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">E8</a>, which is below what a full-time delivery driver can make through [$DeliveryCompany] can do and all that job takes is a road-legal bicycle, shitty android smartphone, ID card, being legally able to work in Germany and being able to memorize absolute basic phrases to communicate and being able to sign a friggin' contract and show up at work on time sober and not filthy...</li></ul><p>If I had a few million euros I'd likely started such a <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/JobClassifieds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>JobClassifieds</span></a> page ages ago...
