#CoPilot popped up at the side of a word doc (first time I've seen this side-bar thing) advising me that it could make my document better.

I told it to fuck off.

It said, I'm sorry, I can't continue this conversation (I never asked for a fucking conversation, so there's that). Then, it said it again.

So, if it happens to you when working on a word doc, I highly recommend telling #CoPilot to fuck off.

Microsoft's Co-pilot is available at work, so I tried to have it write some C++ code yesterday to sort a vector. It produced a lambda for the comparator that was not even syntactically correct: part of the function had like "std b[0]" or something.

I told the thing it made a mistake, at which point it indicated it acknowledged the mistake and proceeded to generate code that was even more jacked up.

Not sure if that's the same version of Co-pilot they're using internally, but it doesn't feel like a great sign that Microsoft is laying off developers by the boat load to reinforce how awesome AI is and then their thing generates code that won't compile.

Developers Built the AI. Now They’re Forced to Rent It.

「 These aren’t engineers talking; they’re salespeople in suits. And they’re selling back to us what we built for free.

This is the real arrogance: the belief that owning compute means owning the future of developers. That with enough capital and GPU clusters, you can just dictate who stays relevant and who gets left behind 」

No thank you, Copilot, I don't want you to summarise the document. I would like to read it myself and discern what I consider to be important, which may be different to other readers. I value reading. Bring back Clippy. He was well meaning but just gently hopeless, like a clueless uncle. Much safer times... #AI #Copilot

New tests show Microsoft Recall still screenshots passwords, banking info & SSNs—even with filters enabled 🛑
Recall was re-released with "enhanced security," but researchers found inconsistent protections & remote access risks 🔓

Despite concerns, Microsoft continues to promote it as a core Copilot+ feature 🤖
