Wagenmakers<p>Almost none of the published articles that apply any method of <a href="https://sciences.social/tags/CriticalDiscourseAnalysis" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CriticalDiscourseAnalysis</span></a> actually explicate how their analysis was conducted. </p><p>Sure, the article states that, let’s say 131 texts were analysed and that the results are that 528 legitimations of category so-and-so were found, but nowhere any article stated how exactly that research was conducted. </p><p>How could I figure out how to do a <a href="https://sciences.social/tags/DiscourseAnalysis" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DiscourseAnalysis</span></a> if even the academic articles did not elaborate on this?</p>
Wagenmakers<p>I started my <a href="https://sciences.social/tags/PhD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PhD</span></a> in 2019 at the <a href="https://sciences.social/tags/University" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>University</span></a> of <a href="https://sciences.social/tags/wroclaw" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wroclaw</span></a> in <a href="https://sciences.social/tags/Poland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Poland</span></a>. I had a vague idea that I wanted to trace the roots of the 2014 <a href="https://sciences.social/tags/russiaukraine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>russiaukraine</span></a> conflict. At first I wanted to use <a href="https://sciences.social/tags/foucault" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>foucault</span></a> and regimes of truth to pursue this analysis but I quickly found out that <a href="https://sciences.social/tags/DiscourseAnalysis" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DiscourseAnalysis</span></a> and more specifically <a href="https://sciences.social/tags/CriticalDiscourseAnalysis" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CriticalDiscourseAnalysis</span></a> and the <a href="https://sciences.social/tags/discoursehistoricalapproach" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>discoursehistoricalapproach</span></a> were much more suited to my research ideas.</p>

Felicitas Macgilchrist<p>Or this one:</p><p>“How is Microsoft approaching responsible AI for the new Bing? </p><p>At Microsoft, we take our commitment to responsible AI seriously. Bing is being developed in accordance with our AI principles. …”</p><p>Notice the passive voice. Alon Lischinsky<p>I used to regularly attend the <a href="https://sciences.social/tags/CADAAD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CADAAD</span></a> conference, but I'd missed the last couple of times</p><p>The fact they've scheduled the next one in Poland confirms I won't be coming again</p><p>YMMV, but the country with the worst <a href="https://sciences.social/tags/LGBTQ" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LGBTQ</span></a>+ protections in the EU seems to me no place to hold a conference on <a href="https://sciences.social/tags/CriticalDiscourseAnalysis" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CriticalDiscourseAnalysis</span></a> — and certainly not somewhere I'd feel safe visiting</p>
Felicitas Macgilchrist<p>Just looking for sth for my students, I found this article again and remembered how good it is.
