"I Dreamt of Brighter Days", 2012

I continue to transition my #art from #deviantart to #Pixelfed. #AIhasDestroyedArtPlatforms such as Deviant Art for me. And unlike most other platforms, I greatly appreciate the freedom of the #Fediverse, including the lack of data collection, or the lack of algorithms dictating what we see, think or feel. #HelloPixelfed. #GoodbyeDeviantArt.

This is more of a #photomanipulation than a #digitalpainting - though there are touch ups. Originally, when I created this, it was meant to represent how I was feeling at the same, particularly during February, one of the most #depressing months. And now I reflect on how much has changed. Though I have experienced #dark days, I have also learned the value and necessity of finding meaning (i.e., finding #alifeworthliving). This can be anything from arts, nature, crafts, activities, hobbies, meditation, relationships and so on. Reflecting back on 2012, I am happy to say that life is much more bright nowadays. However, life would not be so bright without those dark days.

Should give birth to something

I have a Peertube video account here on the fediverse, that you can follow from Mastodon:

I nearly always record my process as a time lapse these days, and greatly enjoy editing them with music and, more recently, annotations. Please consider giving me a follow, if you enjoy this sort of thing!

Here’s Cliffside Sunset

I envisioned dragonite flying through the sky while little pokemon sit on the cliff side watching.

One of my goals for this year is to submit an entry into the Pokémon card art challenge. Last year was the first time I became aware of such a thing and immediately felt the pull. My lack of background ability however kept me from this goal, hence the studies. I’m hoping to start adding characters into scenery once I feel I have a better understanding myself without guidance.

I’ll upload the progress video for this later as well 😊

Heres to goals!

#Spider #Totem, 2014

I have been on #deviantart for 15 years and found great enjoyment in the community there. However, things have changed over the years - the latest being the implementation of AI. #AIhasDestroyedArtPlatforms. I have been reluctant to share new art there. I can no longer find enjoyment in finding new artists there because the majority of new submissions are AI-generated and flooding the system. It has absolutely destroyed the community for me. Anyhoo, I am grateful for discovering #Pixelfed. I decided to transfer my art over before I finally decide to #deleteDeviantArt. I'd also like to give a home to my older work before posting my new and more recent stuff, so bare with me.

This is both a #photomanipulation and #digitalpainting I made back in 2014. Its meant to symbolize the magic of spiders and their divine craftsmanship.

I love the quote: "Weave your creative threads in the dark, and then when the sun hits them, they will glisten with intricate beauty." (Ted Andrews)

This creation was originally inspired by recurring #dreams of spiders which I interpreted as a reminder to restore balance in my hectic lifestyle, to take control and weave my fate, and reacquaint myself with my #creativity once more. Because even in the most stagnant and darkest times, there is room for inspiration and creativity.

Anomander Rake (Malazan) fanart WIP.

Apologies for poor camera-phone-o-vision.... This was going to be a FB only post, but it looked too cool not to crosspost it. I hope the rest of the colours go as well as the parts so far have :)

I figured a quick video would be neat!

I’ve rarely had the opportunity to show off how the process goes and thouht now is the time! This was so much fun to do that I jumped right into the second one. I’ve already finished that as well and hope to whip out a few more while the hyper focus is going 😅.

Especially with the newest addition, I definitely have to start adding pokemon into them, or at least figuring out HOW to add characters with backgrounds. After 13 years out of school and I’m still learning colour theory and most likely will for the rest of my life. Its fun though, I enjoy the challenge.

The next one will be a beautiful sunset from a cliff overlooking a river. Really, I never thought I could pull these off so I’m thrilled.

I decided to attempt a background study as its always been a weak point for me. The first image is my attempt on my own, without instruction/knowledge in painting backgrounds. The second image is after watching a video and it turning out the way the first was perceived 😂

I love seeing my before and afters. For some odd reason I attempt to do something completely on my own first. That way when I do educate/inform myself I’m always surprised by just how much better things are. Without my first attempt, the second instructed one wouldn’t have been so easy to follow or do so I will always appreciate my odd need for self inflicted struggle and stress.

I’ve already another one started and am super excited to throw some Pokémon into these. Stay tuned for more nicer (hopefully) backgrounds! 😁
