Die deutsche Wikipedia listet <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depeche_Mode" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Depeche Mode</a>, <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Order" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">New Order</a>, <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skinny_Puppy" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Skinny Puppy</a>, <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Front_Line_Assembly" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Front Line Assembly</a>, <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Front_242" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Front 242</a> und <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bauhaus_(Band)" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Bauhaus</a> auf, deren Mitglieder Cabaret Voltaire als Inspiration bezeichnet haben. Sie gelten als Pioniere und Wegbereiter des Industrial, Synth-Pop, EBM, House und Techno. Schon 1973 begannen Stephen Mallinder, Richard H. Kirk und Chris Watson, elektronische Musik zu machen, ihr erstes Album veröffentlichten sie 1979.Auf „Code“ haben sich Cabaret Voltaire, mittlerweile nur noch aus Kirk, Mallinder und Gastmusikern bestehend, soweit entwickelt, dass vor allem die Funk-Gitarre ins Ohr sticht. Die Synthesizer erinnern stellenweise an Front 242 oder Kraftwerk, der Gesang an Trent Reznor, wobei das erste Nine Inch Nails-Album erst zwei Jahre später erschien. Sie haben den experimentellen Sound der frühen Jahre hinter sich gelassen und sich dem Mainstream zugewandt. „Code“ war auch ihr erstes Album bei einem Majorlabel (EMI), konnte sich jedoch nicht ind den Charts platzieren und auch die beiden Singleauskopplungen „Don’t Argue“ und „Here To Go“ landeten nur auf hinteren Plätzen. Das liegt wohl daran, dass „Code“ immer noch nicht eingängig genug ist. VeGaNGoTHDiscogsDienstag: Grauzone – GrauzoneManche werden <a href="https://www.grauzone-band.de/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Grauzone</a> für ein NDW-One-Hit-Wonder halten. Das kann eins so sehen, denn tatsächlich hatte die schweizer Band um die Brüder Martin und <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephan_Eicher" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Stephan Eicher</a> zu Beginn der 1980er Jahre einen großen Hit: „Eisbär“. Der wurde 1980 auf einem „Swiss Wave“-Sampler veröffentlicht, bekam daraufhin Radio-Airplay und wurde von der aufkommenden Neuen Deutschen Welle erfaßt. Allerdings ließen sich Grauzone darüberhinaus (für „Eisbär“ wurde ein Vertrag mit EMI geschlossen) nie von der kommerziellen Seite der NDW vereinnahmen, sie gaben kaum Konzerte, traten kaum im Fernsehen auf und gaben kaum Interviews. Die Band löste sich schließlich nach dem ersten selbstbetitelten Album 1982 auf und die Musiker widmeten sich anderen Projekten, die jedoch alle nicht die Bekanntheit von Grauzone erreichten, trotz deren kurzer Schaffensperiode. Grauzone (das Album) enthält „Eisbär“ nicht, dafür aber zehn Lieder, die sich mehr so am Rande der NDW befunden haben. Einige haben es trotzdem auf NDW-Sampler geschafft, z. B. „Marmelade und Himbeereis“, das als NDW-Ballade beginnt, mit einem Text über einen Sommer in Italien, Augen so blau wie das Meer und dann mit der Zeile „Romantik am weißen Strand, unser Blut tropft in den Sand“ und einem wütenden „Wir sind alle prostituiert!“ im Gitarrengewitter endet. Ich könnte es als NDW-Antisong oder zumindest Persiflage bezeichnen, wobei ich natürlich nicht weiß, ob es so gemeint war. Ansonsten haben Grauzone meiner Meinung nach zeitlosen Post-Punk mit Minimal Wave abgeliefert. Wie einige andere Künstler zu der Zeit bauten sie Synthesizer und elektronische Klänge in ihre experimentelle und Punk-beeinflusste Musik ein. Zum 40-jährigen Jubiläum der Veröffentlichung erschien im Jahre 2021 eine Box mit 3 LPs, die nicht nur das Album enthält, sondern auch die Lieder, die vorher auf Singles und EPs enthalten waren. Ja, auch „Eisbär“. VeGaNGoTHDiscogsDienstag: Bauhaus – Press The Eject And Give Me The Tape<a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bauhaus_(Band)" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Bauhaus</a> waren immer eine exzellente Live-Band, was vor allem mit der Bühnenpräsenz von Sänger <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Murphy_(Musiker)" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Peter Murphy</a> und Gitarrist <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Ash" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Daniel Ash</a> zusammenhängt. Die Brüder David J (Bass) und Kevin Haskins (Drums) waren eher zurückhaltend, was beim Drummer nicht verwundert. Ihr erstes Live-Album war <a href="https://www.discogs.com/de/release/508513-Bauhaus-Press-The-Eject-And-Give-Me-The-Tape" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Press The Eject And Give Me The Tape</a>. Wer die LP-Version bis zum Ende hört, vernimmt nach dem letzten Song „Dark Entries“ diese Worte, die ein Ordner zu einem Besucher sagt, der das Konzert selbst aufgenommen hatte und so um das Ergebnis seines heimlichen Tuns gebracht wurde.Das Album wurde aus drei Konzerten zusammengestellt: <a href="https://www.concertarchives.org/concerts/bauhaus-subway-sect-the-birthday-party-black" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Royal Court Theatre, Liverpool</a> (31.10.1981), <a href="https://www.concertarchives.org/concerts/bauhaus-talisman" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Hammersmith Palais, London</a> (09.11.1981) und <a href="https://www.concertarchives.org/concerts/bauhaus-3a1f7011-b7e2-4cd0-b7f7-2d503f92d16c" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">The Old Vic, London</a> (24.02.1982). Bei Letzterer handelt es sich um eine Cover-Version des Klassikers „I’m Waiting For The Man“ von <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Velvet_Underground" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">The Velvet Underground</a>, bei der <a href="https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nico_(S%C3%A4ngerin)" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Nico</a> als Gastsängerin auftrat. Alle Bonus-Tracks der CD bis auf „Of Lillies And Remains“ wurden bereits vorher auf Single-B-Seiten veröffentlicht, „Double Dare“ und „Hair Of The Dog“ wurden als Bonus-Single „Satori In Paris“ einer limitierten Erstauflage von „Press The Eject And Give Me The Tape“ beigelegt. George Liquor, AmericanThe best info I've found about 33mm pressing rings in the US ties them to Wakefield Manufacturing, but the examples I can find all have kind of a secondary "bulge" ring that this lacks.
