Like most times I said "I could hack that in an evening", I am now a week into my journey to bridge the @nfdi4culture and @NFDI4Chem knowledge graphs, inspired by Torsten Schrade's excellent keynote lecture at the NFDI4Chem 6.0 consortium meeting

It required many improvements to @bioregistry, PyOBO, Biomappings, and SSSOM-py, and I'm almost there. Keep up with progress at github.com/nfdi-de/section-met.

blog post coming (eventually)

Recently, I got my hands on a free Ender 5 Pro, whose Z axis was so bent it looked like a forklift drove over it. Because of that, I can finally do an #Endorphin build!

This thread will be an extended sojourn into this project, where I will aim to use random workshop junk whenever possible. I won't make this a hard rule, but I'll try and avoid buying new if I can.

First things first, gotta strip down the frame! So much useless junk there.

Today is #DnD5e day for me after a while away. I printed an entire huge plate of Dungeon Blocks terrain, using a filament I got from a local vendor on the _dirt_ cheap. It was advertised as 'red', but you can judge for yourself what exact colour that ended up being.

Another banger from Igor: youtube.com/watch?v=U-aTEslkqco

tl;dw:

* Bambu PLA Tough+ is worse in every way (or at best, no better) than PLA Basic, except for impact resistance
* PLA Basic Silver has almost the same impact resistance as PLA Tough+, but costs considerably less
* Bambu's filament range is _nothing_ like colour matched
* Bambu's PLA Basic is nothing like consistent across its colours

All interesting results, and worth knowing.

Another weekend, another tuning thread! This one comes from an interesting situation I found myself in: I needed a lot of ABS, and I needed it cheap. Normally I'd use a vendor generic (which isn't amazing but works), but I managed to find something even cheaper from said vendor, that being JAMG HE ABS.

This stuff is _hilariously_ cheap (NZD22.6, which is USD13.2 or so). Thus, let the fun begin!

After the longest print for my K1 Max on record (something like 30 hours), here we have more terrain! It's still not everything I need, but I'll have to take a filament tuning break first, as I'm almost out.

One tile _did_ fail (due to very thin vertical sections which broke), but with ABS and its low layer adhesion, that's always a risk.

Does anyone here have a #resin printer? I have a question.

With #FDM printers, it is necessary to always add ~ 0.2 mm of clearance for parts that are inserted into each other so that they fit together well in the end.

Is it the same with resin printers? How much clearance should I add here?
