Craig P<p>I was thinking a bit more about my Not-Star-Citizen MMO, and the idea of noncombat play.</p><p>A lot of space ships are things like hospital ships, science ships, passenger liners, and so on. But none of those capabilities are typically reflected in the game, so you have literally useless ships.</p><p>I was thinking about ways to make that kind of play fun, and my thinking is:</p><p>Your ship is a PLACE. How would it work? </p><p>If the standard capitalist game model is a tycoon-style game where you're earning money to build things, research things, expand, exploit... What's the antidote? But in mechanics that still appeal to those who like city/factory building-style games? </p><p>It feels like there is a profound tension between solarpunk ideas of community and sustainability, vs builder/simulation games that focus on control and growth. Jankette<p>Combatitive card game idea: "fish fear me"<br> One player is the fisher, all other players are fish.<br> Remove all face cards from the deck, they aren't used in this game.<br> The fisher sets three cards in front of them that represents three different rods they have set up attached to their boat or the shore.<br> The fisher then draws a hand of 5 cards from the remaining.<br> Then all fish can draw their own hand of three cards.<br> Remaining cards are set aside where all players can reach.<br> Fish can draw more cards at any time but cant have more than 4.<br> The fisher can draw cards at any time the fish aren't and cant have more than 5 at once.<br> Fish can place nibble cards adjacent to any of the rod cards the fisher placed. If the nibble cards' face value collectively exceed as a total the face value of the rod cards the fish can try to take the rod card once they have place another card on any other rod.<br> Cards can only be placed at a rod one at a time and with only the player's most dominant hand.<br> The fisher can place additional cards on a rod card to increase the total face value of the rod.<br> If the fish attempt to take a rod with more face value than their nibble pile they are hooked and out of the game. <br> If a fish attempts to take a rod with less or equal face value than their nibble pile play continues with that rod inaccessible to the fisher to make any further plays.
