@limebar yes. mastodon does not show the description. #GoToSocial does not show the player, but shows description. #MissKey shows everything.
Udah nyoba, ternyata tetap ga bisa. #gotosocial belum implementasi schedule post
the two-factor authentication (2FA) pull request for #GoToSocial just got squerged into main :)

So if you're using snapshot builds you can now try it out at your leisure. Others will have to wait for the release of v0.19.0 (whenever we get around to doing that).
Proud of this bit of code! It's pretty OK! It's not bad! Not the worst! It's fine!
my adventures in #selfhosting - day 111 (quiet edition)
Good morning Fedi friends!
I hope you had a nice weekend.
After backing up my two VPSs I am now staring at my #YunoHost dashboard thinking: now what?
It feels a little odd not to have to tackle any pressing self-hosting issues. Everything seems to be working well, including my manual installation of Ghost on a second (Ubuntu) VPS.
I'm now in maintenance mode.
I must confess in the past 24 hours I have spent some time browsing @yunohost 's app catalogue. So many fascinating things in there! But I am exercising restraint (for now, LOL!)
I'm very grateful for all the software I'm currently self-hosting.
On Debian (via YunoHost):
On Ubuntu:
I'm highly aware of my privilege and how lucky I am to be doing all this. But can I confess I'm a little bored? Thankfully I may have another big project on the horizon: upgrading my VPS and installing / self-hosting #PeerTube. But that will be for another week. Resting now and enjoying this sense of empowerment / digital sovereignty. Very grateful to be in this position.
Wishing you all a fantastic week!
to my extreme surprise, successfully* installed @gotosocial and got it running on a nearlyfreespeech.net site! (it's technically shared hosting, but you can set up daemons and proxies to do very VPS-like things.)
While waiting for the feature to automate the deletion of old posts on GoToSocial, I'm now using the little tool "blurp" by @decentral1se It's very practical, allowing me to first check the deletion operation in dry-run mode before actually launching it, and to keep my pinned posts anyway
@kopfkind
when you log to the basic interface of your #gotosocial instance, it proposes to use this front-end
I was thinking about setting up a #GoToSocial instance, but the lack of maintained web clients surprises me. Pinafore & Semaphore have been abandoned, and I do not find any others that seem to be compatible:
https://codeberg.org/fediverse/delightful-fediverse-clients
If you run a GoToSocial instance, which web client do you use?
I am migrating to @jetlagjen@gts.phillipsuk.org
My current instance is going to shut down. Thanks to my geek of a spouse, I'll be moving to our own private #GoToSocial instance.
The account exists, but so far I've done nothing beyond logging in. I've not done migration before and I don't know how much I'll be able to move over.
If something messes up and you don't see me tweeting from the new place in a week or so, please come and find me.
Anyone else using #gotosocial have an issue where most images aren't being downloaded, with a server message similar to this:
"Note from electragicians.space: 1 attachment in this status was not downloaded. Treat the following external link with care:"
I'm wondering if this is normal for GTS, and also if it's possible to turn that behavior off.
Thanks!
So, I very much enjoyed experimenting with @gotosocial ; markdown support in particular was a *huge* upgrade from Mastodon. Unfortunately, I stopped the experiment as it filled up my hard drive with 17GB of stuff, and although I'm sure this is my fault, I figured I probably shouldn't run it on a machine that also hosts services that I and others rely on. Also, like any small fedi server, discoverability was a big problem. I'm going to miss it. #fediverse #mastodon #goToSocial #selfHosting
Got 2FA working nicely on the backend and in the settings panel :)
(this is not an April fools; I mean I am a fool and it's april but it's a legit video)
#Fedicat will list the account rss feed in #GotoSocial profiles when it’s available
