Ooooh... Came across this interesting prompt by by txh0881 from @booksns 's webpage. Has anyone read any of the suggestions already listed? And what would you suggest?

Book Suggestions: Lovecraftian, but not Lovecraft

October 11, 2023

"I would like to read something with Lovecraftian horrors, but not by actual HP Lovecraft. I already have a fancy hardcover collection of his works.

"To be extra clear, I don’t want a slavering monster that is actively disemboweling the cast but, rather, something more subtle.

"I would also appreciate if it was a fun read with a #GreatAdventure, rather than just spine chilling terror and paranoia. Not the biggest fan of straight Horror."

Deep down a "roller coaster incident" wormhole this morning and I found an interesting one:

When a woman fell out of a train car on Lightnin' Loops at SF Great Adventure in 1987, the park was found responsible for her death due to employee negligence (there's a lot more to this story, but we'll keep it short).

The most the state of NJ could do at the time was close the ride for training/repairs & fine the park $1,000. That seems grossly inadequate.
