Ok #hpc peeps! Seeing as the ‘sky doesn’t have polls, and I know a load of y’all are on here, can we try an informal pseudo poll? Who all’s planning on being *physically* present at #sc25 in St. Louis this fall? Bash the ❤️ if you are, or drop a comment. I’ll report back! #supercomputing

Dear HPC users,

We invite you to take part in a research survey that explores how researchers approach computational reproducibility, especially when working with HPC and cloud infrastructure. The goal is to better understand current practices, challenges, and needs around reproducible research workflows.

Survey link:
👉 ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/c

The survey takes approximately 10 minutes. It is anonymous and entirely voluntary. The results will be published in a research paper and also contribute to shaping best practices and training resources that support reproducible science, such as those developed in the de.KCD project.

The survey is open until August 31st, 2025.

Your time and input are greatly appreciated in advancing more reproducible and reliable computational research.

Never underestimate the power of “wall clock as a benchmark” folks!! Some beautiful insights from our good friend @jeffgeerling.com who always measures twice, and cuts once! Although I do always love me some unnatural acts of advanced storage violence with “dd” and chums! #storage #hpc #cloud

You aren’t wrong about layers and layers and layers. I was benching a btrfs the other day with what should have been wicked slow storage. For all my use cases it went like an absolute 🚀. Sometimes you just want a kernel to build fast. If it does, I’m a happy camper. 🤣

We're expanding our gallery space in August to set up a Thinking Machines: Connection Machine with an event to celebrate the 40th anniversary. Join as a BOOTSTRAP member to attend the preview and get a behind the scene peek at the CM2's HOST, a Symbolics 3670 LISP machine, as we restore and recover its *LISP (StarLISP) programming system.

#HPC #Linux Don't ever let someone tell you classic pipelines aren't effective or useful. Non permettere mai che qualcun* dirti i tool classici dell'UNIX fanno schifo a causa che non sono "moderni"...

This is a quick way to find potentially slow links on an Infiniband fabric using clusterkit and a mixture of find, cat, and AWK.
