Big shout out to @revk and their github.com/revk/ESP32-Faikin project that reverse engineers remote control protocol of Daikin AC units and removes dependency on semi-working IR blaster controllers or official Daikin cloud back-and-forth and proprietary phone app remote. I live in Japan - home of Daikin and had zero issues installing and making Faikins work in all my domestic units. They did not have S21 port so I also had to add official interface boards. #homeassistant #faikin

Stymied in my #HomeAssistant projects today.

Project A: was going to setup the waterproof distance sensors I got. (One for a fountain tank and one for my well water holding tank), but amazingly didn't have any more HY2.0-4Pin connectors to connect it to a atom s3-lite. Ordered some more.

Project B: mounting my weather station. It said it took a 1" pole, so I stupidly thought some 1" PVC would work for now. Nope, thats _inner_ diameter on pvc. ;(

I've got #ProxMox with #Frigate up and running across 16 #Amcrest cameras.

The #HomeAssistant integration isn't setup yet because I had weird things happen when I started adding the secondary streams like I had gotten working with one test camera before (using the "detection" stream on a second instance of a camera with higher resolution to feed Home Assistant to take snapshots).

So I guess I'll have to figure that out again...

Trying to decide what I want a #HomeAssistant Tablet Dashboard to show, while having access to useful things behind Bubble Card popups.

I need to show information that both Brandon and I would care for (and maybe visitors) but I also don't want to overcrowd it.

Using conditional/visibility options is nice. Like the Car card only shows up when the car is home, and the Charging Options only when the car is plugged into the EVSE at home.

I also have some time-specific buttons that show up, like a "Before Bed Time" Button that will turn off lights we don't need when we go into the bedroom, but are not ready to turn off all the lights yet.

We tend to turn off those lights before bed manually at each switch/dimmer, but they also turn off with our Night scene.

The Meals calendar is pulling data from Mealie where we have our Meal Plan.

tried setting up zigbee2mqtt as a #HomeAssistant addon today, and failed after two hours of trying to get HA to see the dongle at all (let alone pass it through to the addon)

moved the dongle over to my docker host (which is another VM on the same hardware as the HAOS VM), ran Z2M as a normal container and 10 minutes later I had the first device registered :D

Looks like HA Addons still have a way to go to be in "it just works" territory :/

Trying to decide which would be more painful,—
a) converting each line of a text file into an all day event in a year long ical, or
b) somehow reading the same text file in #HomeAssistant each morning to create some kind of message of the day entity/helper/thing
