I can choose from several clients and lots of providers (or be my own one). The why part is even scarier with standards, that contrarily to academic papers, usually are just godly commandments without any stated rationale or links to the science behind it, and sometimes just mention an agreement between large industry players, which is kind of disgusting.</p><p>Maybe using a <a href="https://mastodon.zougloub.eu/tags/standards" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>standards</span></a> hashtag with a precise question could lead to industry experts giving you information from memory?</p><p>For example, I'm curious as to why did the <a href="https://mastodon.zougloub.eu/tags/ISO8601" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ISO8601</span></a> standard lost ability to express dates and time in truncated fashion, or why the <a href="https://mastodon.zougloub.eu/tags/wikipedia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>wikipedia</span></a> page shows truncated date syntax but no time (was it in the standard?), which I would appreciate to know to design an <a href="https://mastodon.zougloub.eu/tags/interoperable" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>interoperable</span></a> file format.</p>
