d4doome<p>The first half of Bob Rafelson&#39;s 1981 The Postman Always Rings Twice promises to be the best-ever adaptation of Cain&#39;s novel, with the right of mix of sleaziness, sweatiness and desperation. The second half is a trainwreck.</p><p>My review: <a href="https://dfordoom-movieramblings.blogspot.com/2023/11/the-postman-always-rings-twice-1981.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">dfordoom-movieramblings.blogsp</span><span class="invisible">ot.com/2023/11/the-postman-always-rings-twice-1981.html</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/Noirvember" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Noirvember</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/neonoir" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>neonoir</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/jamesmcain" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>jamesmcain</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/jacknicholson" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>jacknicholson</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/jessicalange" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>jessicalange</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/BobRafelson" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>BobRafelson</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/filmnoir" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>filmnoir</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/80smovie" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>80smovie</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/80smovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>80smovies</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/1980smovie" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>1980smovie</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/1980smovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>1980smovies</span></a></p>
Rapid Eye Electronics Ltd<p>Read <a href="https://ravenation.club/tags/ThePostmanAlwaysRingsTwice" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ThePostmanAlwaysRingsTwice</span></a> today. Easy to rip through &amp; the first 30s <a href="https://ravenation.club/tags/crime" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>crime</span></a> <a href="https://ravenation.club/tags/noir" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>noir</span></a> classic I’ve read. Such mad economy of words that it’s sometimes a tiny bit difficult to figure out who’s talking but in general works brilliantly. Loved it. <a href="https://ravenation.club/tags/JamesMCain" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>JamesMCain</span></a> <a href="https://ravenation.club/tags/books" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>books</span></a> <a href="https://ravenation.club/tags/bookstadon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bookstadon</span></a></p>

d4doome<p>James M. Cain’s novels have not always been well treated by Hollywood. They were just too sleazy, but his 1943 classic Double Indemnity is one of the rare exceptions. The 1944 movie version is every bit as good as the book.</p><p>And it&#39;s a great book. It’s typical Cain. Sleazy people committing sleazy crimes for sleazy reasons. In this case a man and a woman who are equally sleazy.</p><p>My review: <a href="https://vintagepopfictions.blogspot.com/2015/01/james-m-cains-double-indemnity.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">vintagepopfictions.blogspot.co</span><span class="invisible">m/2015/01/james-m-cains-double-indemnity.html</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/JamesMCain" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>JamesMCain</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/noirfiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>noirfiction</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/hardboiled" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>hardboiled</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/hardboiledfiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>hardboiledfiction</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/Double" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Double</span></a> Indemnity</p>
