Giulio Questi’s Death Laid an Egg (1968) is a weird mix of a very bad political art film (with mutant chickens) and a superb delightfully twisted giallo. It's an interesting failure but the giallo plot is excellent. Ewa Aulin is terrific.

Heavy, but very well made 
Art-house meets giallo in Tinto Brass’s Deadly Sweet (1967). Has a Pop Art verging on psychedelia visual style. Imagine a giallo made as an homage to Blow-Up but in the style of a Guido Crepax comic. Quirky, witty and slightly perverse. Superb.

So Sweet...So Perverse (1969), an Umberto Lenzi giallo starring Carroll Baker. With delightfully twisted nasty plot twists coming thick and fast. You can't take anybody in this movie at face value. Decadence, betrayal and murder. Great stuff.

A man and a woman meet and fall in love. The woman – Anouk Aimée – still mourns the loss of her stuntman husband, while the man – Jean-Louis Trintignant – is alone since his partner took her life, incapable of dealing with his near-fatal crash at #LeMans. #Trintignant came from a family obsessed with race car driving and was an avid amateur driver himself. His uncle, the #GrandPrix racer Maurice Trintignant, can be seen driving a #Maserati Tipo 151/1 during the race scene.
A deceptively simple #film by Claude Lelouch, with an equally breezy soundtrack by Francis Lai. This is Un homme et une femme (1966).

Young aspiring stage actress Nina walks into a real estate agency. So starts Rendez-vous, starring baby Juliette Binoche. A bizaare love triangle ensues between Nina, love sick puppy dog Paulot and his charismatic actor roommate Quentin. There would be obsession, emotional outbursts and a suicide.
Enter Quentin's mentor Scrutzler (Jean-Louis Trintignant), a theater director. Nina auditions for the part of Juliette. Once she gets the part, she is having a hard time. How would she know to play the role if she's never been in love? Quentin's ghost haunts her. Rendez-vous, an Assayas scripted film, later a basis for Clouds of Sils Maria, is a beautiful 80s film about passion. It's also about youth. It sounds like bullshit but in order to be great at whatever you do, you need to experience passionate love. Binoche looks so innocent in this great, breakout role.
